Heather Shares an Impressive Update on Her Daughter Kat: "Got Our Baby Back!"
The RHOC mom confirmed her youngest daughter just completed a university-based program in Illinois: "Successful summer!"
It was a joyous reunion for Heather Dubrow.
The Real Housewives of Orange County cast member traveled to the Midwest this week to pick up her teenage daughter, Kat Dubrow. The 16-year-old had spent the last month in Evanston, Illinois, where she was enrolled in Northwestern University’s National High School Insitute, a highly competitive summer program that offers studies in debate, theater arts, playwriting, as well as film and video.

Heather documented the mini family reunion via Instagram on Saturday, July 29, where she posted a photo of her smiling ear to ear alongside Kat and her plastic surgeon husband, Dr. Terry Dubrow.
“Got our baby back!” she captioned a photo. “Successful summer.”
Back in June, Heather announced she had dropped Kat off at Northwestern University, where she would stay for five weeks. The OC mom posted a photo of her youngest daughter standing in her dorm room with a couple of bags by her side.
“Dorm room move in!” Heather captioned the photo of Kat in the bare space. “(Getting very good at this).”
The move took place less than a year after Heather and Terry’s oldest children — twins Max and Nick — had left Orange County to attend Tufts University and Loyola Marymount University, respectively. The OC husband and wife also share a 12-year-old son, Ace.
Kat enlists Heather for an exciting film project
Earlier this year, Heather confirmed she had secured an acting role in Kat’s new film project. The ’Wife shared photos of her and Terry shooting a scene, as well as a video clip of Kat sitting behind the camera while locked in director mode.
“Feeling very at home on set… maybe a little too at home," Heather wrote in the caption. “So proud of our baby [Kat Dubrow] on her new film and it was so FUN to be included!!”
Kat opens up about her sexuality and coming-out experience
The movie announcement was made more than a year after Kat publicly came out as a lesbian. The teen spoke candidly about her coming-out experience in RHOC Season 16.
“With my siblings, I’m not super close because we have such a big age difference that I just don’t really connect with them,” she said, before referencing her sister Max’s bisexuality. “From what I saw from the outside of my older sister’s coming out story, everyone was supportive. Her friends were supportive. But when I came out, I was dealing with a lot of homophobia.”
In a 2022 interview with People magazine, Heather revealed her youngest daughter “had been talking about her sexuality for a while," and had come out to the family in a group text.
“Kat decided to drop in our family group text, ‘By the way, I’m a lesbian,’ “ Heather recalled. “I didn’t see it, and I was mad because the dogs pooped in the house, so I wrote back, ‘Who let the dogs poop in the house?’ It was a total mom fail, and they’ve never let me forget that. All I cared about was creating an environment where they all felt safe, comfortable, happy.”
