Guerdy Abraira Made an "Empowering" Decision About Her Hair After Her Cancer Battle: Details
The Real Housewives of Miami mom opened up about why her shaved head is "here to stay.”
In May 2023, Guerdy Abraira announced via social media that she had been diagnosed with stage one breast cancer. Throughout Season 6 of The Real Housewives of Miami, viewers followed Guerdy's journey with her diagnosis, including shaving her head to deal with the forthcoming side effects of chemotherapy.
Thankfully, on the finale, we found out Guerdy was officially cancer-free, and now, the Florida mom is keeping her new hairstyle. "We are keeping the hair!" she told Page Six on March 10 during DIRECTV’s Streaming with the Stars Oscars-viewing party in Beverly Hills, California.

“It’s official!” Guerdy exclaimed to the outlet at the event, which was held at Spago Beverly Hills. the mom of two also noted that Russell Abraira is "obsessed" with the cut, adding that it's “now part of [her] foreplay” with her husband.
“So the hair stays,” she added to the outlet. “It’s here to stay.”
Guerdy declared, “It’s so empowering,” before joking, “And honestly, I’ve saved, like, over $50,000 just not having the wigs and the waves and the this and the that.”

Guerdy Abraira shares why she shaved her head amid cancer battle
It's no surprise Russell is game for Guerdy's 'do, considering how supportive he was when she initially cut off all her tresses on Season 6, Episode 17, of RHOM, which aired on February 21.
"I've had no control throughout this entire cancer journey and with chemo[therapy], hair loss is one of the main side effects," Guerdy shared in an interview confessional during the episode. "If that's the only thing I can control, I will, because that hair is gonna fall off on my terms."
Russell dutifully assisted his wife as she held back tears cutting off her braids. "I don't know what I would have done without you," she told him, "You're my best friend."
"Russell is my safe space, Russell is my haven, Russell is the zone of me being at peace," Guerdy added in an interview. "I appreciate that and I nurture it every single day."
While the fire captain helped her with cutting off each of her braids and shaving the rest of her hair, she leaned on him for support. He then assured her: "You're very beautiful. It doesn't look bad at all. Trust me. You look good!"
