Gretchen Rossi Is Expecting Her First Child with Slade Smiley
The Real Housewives of Orange County couple has a bundle of joy on the way.
There's a baby on the way for Gretchen Rossi and Slade Smiley! The Real Housewives of Orange County alum is expecting her first child with her longtime partner, the couple announced on The Doctors, Monday, December 17, after opening up about their latest IVF procedure on the talk show last week. "Yes, finally we have news that we are pregnant!" Gretchen gushed during an interview on The Doctors. "It's so wild. It still doesn't feel real."
Slade, who has two sons, Gavin and Grayson, from previous relationships, added, "And we're freaked out — but in a good way."
Gretchen has long dreamed of having a child with Slade. She first started IVF four years ago, but unfortunately lost 14 embryos after the first round, which made Gretchen want to take a break from trying for a baby. But seven weeks ago, an embryo was able to be implanted, which is the farthest the couple has been able to get in the process.
Though Gretchen looks like she's absolutely glowing, she did share that she's been experiencing some not-so-joyful aspects of pregnancy so far. "These symptoms, I gotta tell you, man," she said on The Doctors. "I swear they lie to you about morning sickness. It's all-day sickness. It's like the worst ever."
But hearing their baby's first heartbeat has made all of the challenges worth it. "All of this has been such an overwhelming journey, and so when you get to those little milestones, you know you're hearing the heartbeat," Slade said on the talk show. "It's so exciting, but it's also relief."
Gretchen opened up more about her and Slade's "little Christmas miracle" in an interview with PEOPLE, noting that their baby is due in July 2019. Their new bundle of joy will come just a few months after Gretchen and Slade celebrate their 10th anniversary in February.
