Gretchen Rossi Addresses Speculation About Why She Hasn't Posted Photos of Her Baby Girl Yet
The Real Housewives of Orange County alum is "shocked" and "disappointed" by the comments she's received from fans.
It's been nearly a week since Gretchen Rossi gave birth to daughter Skylar Gray Smiley via C-section on July 10. However, The Real Housewives of Orange County alum's first week of motherhood hasn't exactly been filled with baby bliss.
After receiving a lot of criticism from social media followers wondering why she hasn't shared any photos of her and fiancé Slade Smiley's baby girl yet, Gretchen took to her Instagram Stories to clap back at her critics. "I got back on my social today for the first time in six days after having major abdominal surgery and bringing a new life into this world, and I have to say I was not only shocked by some of the comments on my last post but super hurt and disappointed by some of your guys' attitude about how I have not shared pictures quite yet, and the attitude that I owe you something," Gretchen wrote. "First let's be clear I don't owe any of you who are making these ridiculous comments anything."
While "in a ton of pain" as she recovered from surgery for four days and three nights in the hospital, feeling "emotional and physically exhausted," and adjusting to life as a first-time mom, Gretchen said that sharing updates on social media was the last thing she was thinking about in her first week as a mom. "I have to say it was honestly one of the most difficult things I have ever had to navigate. So I was certainly in no way thinking about or concerned about posting on my social media," she shared. "Also we really wanted to take some time to bond and get to know out little girl!! To me that is called being a good Mom!"
Gretchen said she has no time for "ridiculous" or "rude" comments from fans about why she hasn't shared any photos of Skylar. "The audacity some of you have to make comments and false assumptions about why I haven't posted a picture yet, is quite honestly gross and hurts my heart," she wrote. "This is my page and our journey with our daughter. I love sharing it with those that can appreciate and respect that. So if you have a problem with the way I am going about it then please click unfollow!"
The new mom then went on to show appreciation for the fans who have wished her well following the birth of her daughter. And don't worry, we'll get to see Skylar's adorable face soon enough. "For all of you who have left beautiful kind messages, thank you from the bottom of my heart, (for knowing my true heart) and giving us space to post on our own time while we bond with our baby girl!" Gretchen shared. "Pictures are coming soon, we took a million of course and I just have not been focused on even looking through them quite yet. I love sharing our journey with all of you who have been super supportive and wonderful throughout this whole journey."
At the end of her message, Gretchen said, "So thank you to all the other thousands of messages of love and support. However if you are a hater then you can go suck it."
Gretchen may have her fair share of critics, but at least she can count on her fellow Bravo moms to have her back. Cameran Eubanks, Luann de Lesseps, and Lizzie Rovsek all sent the RHOC alum some love in the comments to her post on Instagram.
Still, it sounds like Gretchen's first few moments as a mom have been mostly filled with joy. "God is Great!! Skylar Gray Smiley arrived safely into this world today! Most amazing [and] emotional day of my life!" Gretchen gushed in a post after welcoming her daughter last week. "I am doing good as well of course I have some pain from the c-section, but it was all so worth it!"
