Fredrik Eklund Explains Why Derek Kaplan Is the Perfect Guy for Him

Nearly six years after meeting in Greece, Fredrik Eklund and Derek Kaplan are definitely living their happily ever after. The Million Dollar Listing New York agent and his artist husband have given viewers a look at their love story, from saying "I do" to experiencing pain on their path to fatherhood. Fredrik recently spoke to The Daily Dish about his life partner, revealing how the twosome keep each other in check.  

"He is amazing because we're very similar in many ways, but we're also very different," Fredrik said. "He couldn't care less about material, expensive things — which is good for me because it's very easy for someone like myself to get lost in the world in New York selling real estate. And you get numbed out by the price points and the people that we deal with. And $5 million became $10 million became $20 million became $50 million and you can loose yourself in all that."

Fredrik points out that there's something about the Zimbabwe native's cool, calm demeanor that helps to ground him. "I come home and I'm really excited and I'm telling him, 'Babe, I sold a $25 million dollar penthouse today. And remember I told you about that one. How difficult it was?' And he always looks at me and before he even answers, in a very loving way I realize that he's part of me and he sees that excitement but he couldn't really care less about any of those things," he said. "I mean, he cares about them because I care about them. It's perfect like that."
