Months after announcing her daughter’s college plans, the Married to Medicine mom traveled to Tallahassee this week to see her “baby girl” off to Florida A&M University. Heavenly shared the experience in an August 23 Instagram photo, which showed her and her daughter, Alaura Kimes, in the midst of FAMU’s move-in day.

The mother and daughter stood side by side with a few college-room necessitates in tow. The FAMU freshman was pictured holding a couple of throw pillows and a large shopping bag, as Heavenly wrapped her arm around Alaura and showed off her school pride. The Atlanta dentist was fully decked out in FAMU gear, including an orange-and-green T-shirt emblazoned with the school’s name and logo, as well as a pair of matching track pants.

“I’m killing the game in my FAMU outfit!” Heavenly captioned the post, which included a series of hashtags, such as “move-in day” and “class of 2028.”

The team behind FAMU’s Instagram account caught wind of the post and immediately co-signed Heavenly’s look: “Loving the Orange and Green drip Rattler!” the school commented. “Welcome to the Hill FAMUly.”

Alaura Kimes follows in Heavenly’s FAMU footsteps

Back in May, the Married to Medicine cast member announced that Alaura had accepted an offer to attend the Florida HBCU, which also happened to be Heavenly’s alma mater.

“Thank you God! I am proud to announce that my baby girl [Alaura] will following in my footsteps and be spending her next four years at My Alma Mater THEE #1 Public HBCU: Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University,” she captioned the May 1 post. “Thank you to my family and friends for continuously pouring into and supporting us! See you on The Hill…”

Alaura Kimes reflects on her new chapter

Heavenly told her followers that Alaura — whom she shares with her husband, Dr. Damon Kimes — would pursue a biology pre-med degree, but she did not expand on her daughter’s ultimate career goals.

Weeks after the announcement, Alaura returned to Instagram to share a few high school graduation photos, as well as a heartfelt message about her new journey.

“…Call Me Big Fish,” her caption began. “I cannot believe how fast my senior year of high school flew by! I remember the excitement I felt going in to take these senior portraits, and how excruciatingly long of a wait I thought it would be to finally say I’m a high school graduate. Fast forward — I am already about to begin my life’s next chapter within the month to come: College On The Hill. Thank you God for all the blessings that you continue to place into my life… this is just the beginning!”
