Dr. Eugene Harris Explains His Mom's Reaction to the Married to Medicine Ladies
Toya Bush-Harris' mother-in-law wasn't a fan of the drama going down in D.C.
As the Married to Medicine trip for the March on Washington continued in the April 25 episode, some special guests joined the couples. That included a few doctors from the area who are friendly with the ladies, as well as Dr. Eugene Harris' mother and brother.
"I'm always in the D.C. area because my mother-in-law and brother-in-law lives here. And so, I knew a couple of doctors down there," Toya Bush-Harris shared in an interview during the episode. "The medical industry is small, and that's my peeps."
Dr. Eugene also opened up about living in Washington, D.C. until he was 8 years old in another interview in the episode.
Toya introduced Dr. Eugene's mom, Evelyn, to her friends, who gave her a warm welcome. "When his mom first met me, she loved me," Toya said in an interview during the episode. "I was like the daughter she never had." However, things changed, according to Toya, which Dr. Eugene explained was because his wife is more outspoken than his mother is used to seeing.
As drama broke out among the ladies over whether Dr. Contessa Metcalfe told Kari Wells to come over to the "intelligent side" with the doctors of the group (clip above), Dr. Eugene's mom got up and joined the men. "All that fussing," Evelyn said to the guys. "I'm not used to that."
Toya later came over to the husbands to fill them in on what was happening, but they weren't interested in getting involved in the conflict, either. She also asked her mother-in-law, "How did you disappear? We ran you off?" Evelyn nodded her head yes and said, "I know when to leave. I don't want to hear it."
Dr. Eugene later explained his mom's reaction to all the drama on Twitter as the episode aired. "She’s not used to this #Married2Med life!!!" he tweeted.
But Evelyn did impart some wisdom on Dr. Heavenly Kimes' husband, Dr. Damon Kimes, telling the doctor, "You come across as quiet, but don't let people get you upset."
