Daisy Kelliher Sheds New Light On “Hard to Watch” Dinner Disaster (EXCLUSIVE)
Below Deck Sailing Yacht chief stew Daisy Kelliher has mixed feelings about her dinner drama with chef Cloyce Martin on the Season 5 premiere.
Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 got off to a rocky start for Daisy Kelliher when the Parsifal III chief stew had a heated argument with chef Cloyce Martin about the first dinner service. In an exclusive interview with The Daily Dish, Daisy shared new details about what exactly went wrong during that chaotic meal.
As fans may recall, the Season 5 premiere — which aired on October 7 — saw Cloyce telling Daisy that he would rather not take specific orders from guests for meals. However, Daisy ended up unintentionally giving the whole group of charter guests their choice of entrees.
Looking back on that moment today, Daisy told The Daily Dish, "I kind of cringe watching that."
"I felt really bad," she admitted. "But it's hard because boats are like somebody's house. You don't come into somebody's house — like if I invite you for dinner — and start telling me what you want. It doesn't work like that, and it certainly doesn't work like that on a boat."
She added, "So, I should have been more discreet, but I thought they knew that's how it worked, and they didn't, and that was my fault."
As viewers saw during the episode, the individual ordering caused a bit of chaos in the kitchen, resulting in Cloyce preparing the wrong number of lobster dishes in addition to making one of the steaks well-done instead of a medium temperature.
But despite the ordering mishap, Daisy stands by the fact that Cloyce should have prepared the meal correctly.
"If he says he can do it, then I expect him to be able to do it," she said. "So that's kind of on him. But yeah, that whole interaction was really hard to watch because I did feel really bad, and I felt kind of responsible. And that was probably quite hard for him to start the season in that way. But I think I was right about my inhibitions about him."

Captain Glenn Shephard also had some early inhibitions about Cloyce, specifically pertaining to his dynamic with Daisy. While watching their dinner struggle on the Season 5 premiere, Glenn declared, "If tonight is any indication of Cloyce and Daisy's inter-departmental relationship, what I'm seeing now has got me worried."
Who is Below Deck Sailing Yacht's Chef Cloyce Martin?
Cloyce is a 22-year-old chef who is new to the Parsifal III crew. On the Season 5 premiere, he shared a bit about his background and experience.
"This will be my third full [yachting] season," he said. "When people find out that I am 22 years old, do I think that freaks them out a bit? Yeah. [But] my age is 100% unrelated to my capabilities as a person."
