Bethenny Frankel’s Daughter, Bryn, Just Did Her First TV Interview: All the Details

The teen weighed in on what it’s *really* like to have the RHONY alum as a mom.

By Shannon Raphael

Bravoholics saw Bethenny Frankel’s journey to motherhood, the moment she went into labor, and her early months as a first-time parent with her daughter, Bryn Hoppy, on both Bethenny Getting Married and Bethenny Ever After, and now her only child is officially a teenager.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of New York City on Bravo Tuesdays at 9/8c and stream next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo app.

Bryn turned 13 on May 8, 2023, and though she’s been a fixture on her mom’s Instagram page for some time now, viewers haven’t seen Bryn on TV since she was a baby. However, that changed when she joined The Real Housewives of New York City alum during her co-hosting appearance on the fourth hour of TODAY on June 27.

Keep reading to find out more about Bryn’s first TV interview, including what she shared about having Bethenny as a mom.

Bethenny Frankel’s daughter makes a rare TV appearance

While Bethenny was co-hosting the final hour of the morning program with Hoda Kotb, she revealed that her daughter had decided to join her on set.

“She’s so sweet. It’s the first time she’s come to an appearance, and she was excited,” Bethenny said on the show about her daughter, who wore a bright pink dress for the special occasion. “She put a robe belt in her hair to curl it. That’s how her hair got curled.”

Bryn opens up about mom Bethenny

Hoda asked the teen what it’s like to have Bethenny as a mother. “It’s crazy, yeah,” Bryn said before revealing that she feels that way because of “all the stories” she has heard.

“Adventures every day,” Bethenny added.

Bryn then went on to share that her mom runs a tight ship at home. “Yeah, she’s strict,” Bryn told Hoda, and Bethenny elaborated on her daughter’s response.

“Like when I say, ‘Shut the program down’?” Bethenny asked, and Bryn said, “Yeah… You just are [strict], and you reach a point and you get really mad.”

Bryn also revealed that one of her mom’s favorite expressions to use at home is “Commit to the bit.”

Bethenny reflects on being a mom to a teenager

Now that Bryn has officially hit her teenage years, Hoda asked what it’s been like for the Skinnygirl founder as a parent.

“It’s amazing,” Bethenny said before giving Hoda (who has two young daughters) some advice. “You’re going to love it, though.”

Bethenny dishes on her engagement to Paul Bernon

The author became engaged to businessman/producer Paul Bernon in 2021, but she didn’t reveal the details of his proposal story on Instagram until 2023.

On TODAY, Bethenny shared why she waited to publicly discuss her engagement.

“It’s not a new story, but what’s amazing about 2023 is that media tells your story, and then you get to tell it yourself,” she explained. “When you see that the car’s going in a direction that you may not like, you’re like, ‘OK, now it’s years later, I’m going to tell my own story [with] how it happened.’”

Bethenny then re-shared the story she first detailed on Instagram: Paul popped the question when the two took a getaway to Little Palm Island in the Florida Keys during the pandemic.

“He did very much a romantic Bachelor-like proposal. You walk down to the beach and there’s flowers everywhere and it’s a private table — it was my fantasy suite. And then he proposed, and we had a really nice vacation,” she said before revealing that her daughter was in on the surprise. “Bryn knew.”

Though Bethenny and Paul are in no rush to tie the knot, it’s clear they’ve formed a solid blended family with Bryn and with Paul’s children.
