Kate Chastain Welcomes Her Baby (PHOTO)
The Below Deck alum and former chief stew is officially a mom. See her big announcement and find out how congratulated her!
We’re sending out all the mazels as Kate Chastain has gone from chief stew to mom!
The Below Deck alum officially welcomed her child, Sullivan Cay, and confirmed the happy news on Instagram on Friday, May 5. She posted the first photo of the baby, captioning a pic of herself in the hospital holding her newborn: “Hard Launch: Sullivan Cay.”
After sharing the news of her baby's birth, Kate received many messages of support from Captain Lee Rosbach ("Congratulations Kate, wishing you both all the best"), Captain Sandy Yawn ("Congratulations!! I’m so happy for you!"), Dorit Kemsley, Lala Kent, Margaret Josephs, Bugsy Drake, Tamra Judge, and many more members of the Bravo family.
Kate first confirmed her pregnancy back in December 2022 when she posted a selfie with her baby bump on display and captioned the reveal, “I’m already planning so many birthday theme parties for you.”
After making the big pregnancy reveal, Kate shared many updates during her journey and felt the love and support of the Below Deck and Bravo family (including, yes, Captain Lee).
She made several appearances on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen along the way, as well as appeared on Season 4 of Below Deck Galley Talk. She later revealed what it was like to be secretly pregnant at BravoCon 2022 before anyone knew she was expecting.
“The hardest thing was, you’re really not supposed to share until you’re at week 12 and BravoCon was week 11 and a half,” Kate said when speaking to ET about the big event that took place while she was prepping for her major next chapter. “So, here I am, the biggest weekend, partying, drinks — everybody in the Bravo universe, ‘Come out, have drinks with us!’”
As you might imagine, Kate revealed that her career in yachting has helped prepare her for a baby, sharing on WWHL previously that “being a chief stew really trained me for it.”
And during another Clubhouse appearance, she added, “I feel so lucky. It’s been the easiest pregnancy ever. Well, my only. But yeah, very easy.” And while Kate shared that she’s “doing it solo and perhaps with some help,” she noted, “But I’m happy to do it alone.”
She also shared early in her pregnancy that motherhood was something she’s always wanted to pursue: “I am absolutely thrilled to become a mother. It’s something I've always hoped for, so this is truly a dream come true!” she told People. She shared a similar sentiment on WWHL, adding that she “did [always want to be a mom], but I wasn’t sure it was going to happen for me. So I feel so lucky.”
