Is Kate Chastain Taking a Dip in the Lady Pond?
The #BelowDeck chief stew has a new girlfriend, The Daily Dish has confirmed.
Those still 'shipping Below Deck's Kate Chastain and Ben Robinson will have to dream on for now. Kate is dating someone else — and she's a woman.
Kate has a new girlfriend, The Daily Dish has confirmed after the chief stew posted a couple of PDA-packed pics with another woman on Twitter this past week. “I think everybody’s just as surprised as I am by the photos. You know, I am currently dating a girl. She’s amazing. I never, ever imagined myself dating a girl. I never was attracted to girls. So I’m a little caught off guard, but she’s just a really special person," Kate told The Daily Dish. “We met just met in our hometown at a bar one night and started chatting. I thought she was really cool, and I never thought it would ever lead to anything romantic and then just over time it did.”
Kate is keeping mum on who the lucky lady is, and although the woman in the photo may look like her Below Deck crewmember Connie Arias, Kate has confirmed that she is not. However, Kate wasn't shy about bragging about her new love. “I’m not gonna say who she is quite yet, but she’s pretty amazing," Kate gushed. "She’s smart and athletic and gorgeous."
But just because Kate is now dating a woman doesn't mean that she considers herself bisexual. “I think every single human that knows me is going to be surprised by the news because this is out of character for me. If I break up with this girl, I don’t think I would really be interested in dating girls after this," she said. "I don’t really think about labelling it too much. I just feel like I met somebody whose company I enjoy, and that’s just all I’m calling it."
Kate's new lady already has already gotten a thumbs up from Connie, who hung out with the new couple at her and Kate's joint birthday celebration last weekend. "Connie arranged for all of us to go out to this ranch and have bonfires and ride swamp buggies. So I brought my girlfriend, and Connie was so funny. She called her 'the lesbian Justin Timberlake,'” Kate said.
“She’s just got a lot of swag, and she’s a really good hip-hop dancer, and she’s just really cool.”
Believe it or not, Kate's new girlfriend even has the seal of approval of her former fling Ben. “Ben knows, and Ben is very supportive of it," Kate told The Daily Dish.
He even encouraged the two of them to get together. “Actually, I think I was hanging out with [Ben] in Fort Lauderdale when she started texting me, and I showed him a photo," Kate said. "I was like, ‘I don’t know what’s going on, Ben, but I think this girl is coming onto me.’ And he looked at her and was like, ‘Wow, she’s gorgeous. Go for it.’ I actually have to give Ben a little credit.”
Moving forward, Kate said she is excited to see where this new relationship goes and hopes that people are as open-minded about it as she was. “I never considered this for myself, so if anything, people who hear about this, just keep an open mind about things they haven’t experienced,” Kate said.
Well, Captain Lee Rosbach may not get to officiate the wedding of Kate and Ben after all, but as long as Kate's happy, we're happy. We'll always have the Eros, anyway.
