Captain Jason Chambers Did the Sweetest Thing for His Daughter: "So Worth It"
The Below Deck Down Under captain lost a lot of sleep but doesn't regret bonding with his daughter in this special way.
Captain Jason Chambers will chart any course to show up for his daughter, Saskia. The Below Deck Down Under boss — who made quite the splash with the ladies at BravoCon 2023 — recently shared the special thing he did to support his kiddo.
In his Instagram Stories from November 19, the Australia native, who currently lives in Singapore, recounted a rather long journey he'd just taken. Sharing a picture of himself with his adorable daughter, the seafaring bachelor wrote: "3 flights no sleep. I rushed back to make her debut. So worth it."
In the photo, Jason's daughter was wearing stage makeup and had a little microphone attached to her. In the next Instagram Story, we found out why. Jason shared a glimpse of his daughter's delightful school play, which was where she made her grand, three-flight-worthy "debut." The kiddos wore bright costumes and made big, animated gestures, making it plain to see that the spectacle was indeed "worth it."
Captain Jason Chambers opens up about his love for daughter Saskia
As Jason explained on the series premiere of Below Deck Down Under, he doesn't get to see his daughter, whom he co-parents with his ex, very often because of his work in the yachting industry.
"Being away from her hurts every day," he said in an interview on Episode 1 of Season 1. "There's no words for how much I love my daughter. Everything's about her." Then, during a chat with The Daily Dish in July, the captain shared more details on his bond with Saskia, who is currently nine.
When Jason is away from his only child, he keeps in touch with her via multiple Facetime calls a day. As Saskia has gotten older, Jason said she's developed a cheeky sense of humor, and "her jokes are really coming into play."
"I'm enjoying to watch this little girl grow. She's got empathy, she's got humor, she's got adventure," he said. "I think she's a little me — and her mother, mostly — but I can see me in her a lot, the more she gets older."
On the Below Deck Down Under Season 2 premiere, Jason spoke to chef Tzarina Mace-Ralph about working with Saskia's mom on a villa they owned in the Philippines.
While he was helping Tzarina in the galley, he revealed that he learned cooking techniques from his Saskia's mama, who used to be a yacht chef as well. "Saskia's mother is fantastic," Jason said in a confessional on the episode. "We run a business together, we co-parent, and I've learned a lot by watching her."
