Leave it to Ariana Madix to go from expressing her fandom for Love Island during Season 10 of Vanderpump Rules to making an actual appearance on Peacock’s Love Island USA.
Ariana made her highly anticipated debut on Love Island USA Season 5 Episode 8 on July 25. Read on to find out everything that went down.
Ariana Madix’s Appearance on Love Island USA Season 5
Initially referred to as a mystery “VIP guest” in a text to the Islanders, Ariana shocked the group when she arrived (in style, of course) and said, “Hey, Islanders!”
Hannah Wright was particularly in awe, explaining in a confessional interview, “[I’ve] literally [been] watching her on Vanderpump [Rules] for years. Like, she’s just an icon. You look up ‘bad bitch’ in the dictionary, you gonna see a picture of Ariana.”
Back in the group setting, Ariana told the Islanders they would be playing what she revealed to be her “favorite-ever Love Island game,” aka “Mr. and Mrs.” What’s more, the game’s winning couple would receive a “prize that’s never, ever been given out in Love Island history.”
Now that’s how you make an entrance. The prize? Avoid the first public dumping.
The game was naturally intense with that reward on the line, and in the end, Ariana had to ask a bonus tie-breaker question to determine a winner between couples Harrison Luna and Destiny Davis, and Hannah and Marco Donatelli. The latter couple came out on top.
The Backstory Behind Ariana Madix’s Appearance on Love Island USA Season 5
Ariana was revealed to be a Love Island fan on Vanderpump Rules Season 10 Episode 14 during a conversation with her then-boyfriend, Tom Sandoval. The two were arguing about how to improve their relationship and ways they could spend more “quality time” together, but as Ariana pointed out, Tom wasn’t a fan of “the same things” she and her friends liked. More specifically, she told him, “You don’t sit there and watch episodes of Love Island with me.”
Fast-forward to July, and Ariana was teasing her soon-to-come Love Island USA cameo in a TikTok video that showed her lip-synching the iconic line, “This week, a hot new bombshell enters the villa.” The post’s caption then read, “Islanders: ready to shake things up? Don’t worry, I don’t bite.”
Ariana continued to drop tidbits about her Love Island USA appearance in the days leading up to Episode 8. In one Instagram post, she posed by one of the villa’s most iconic spots, writing in the caption, “i can’t believe i’m popping in the [Love Island USA] villa this week! like.. i am GATHERED around the fire pit! you can watch the fun on [Peacock].”
The end of Love Island USA Episode 7 also previewed Ariana’s arrival. She got the slo-mo treatment as she strutted in, all while the show’s narrator said, “A very special bombshell hits the villa. Vanderpump Rules’ Ariana Madix delivers the drama.”
Finally, Ariana posed in an adorable video with Love Island fan-favorite Maura Higgins.
What to Expect from the Rest of Love Island USA Season 5
As for what else is to come on Season 5 of Love Island USA, a press release reads, “Set in Fiji, Season 5 of the Peacock Original Love Island USA will feature a new group of sexy singles on a search for love in a beautiful villa. Throughout their stay in a tropical oasis, Islanders will couple up to face brand-new heart-racing challenges and bigger twists and turns than ever before. Temptations will rise and drama will ensue as new ‘bombshells’ arrive throughout the season, forcing Islanders to decide if they want to remain with their current partners or recouple with someone new. Islanders will also be at the mercy of viewers at home, who will vote to determine who gets another shot at love and who leaves the villa heartbroken and empty-handed.”
