Andy Cohen Reacts to the Dani and Jean-Luc Situation from the Below Deck Sailing Yacht Reunion
The WWHL host reflects on speaking to Dani Soares and Jean-Luc Cerza-Lanaux at the Season 2 sit-down.
Andy Cohen has hosted countless Bravo reunions over the years. However, the Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen host entered some new territory during the Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 2 reunion.
Part 2 of the reunion, which aired on WWHL on June 22, mainly featured Dani Soares and Jean-Luc Cerza-Lanaux separately discussing their relationship following the charter season. That included Dani's pregnancy (she welcomed her first child, daughter Lilly, on May 26) and if JL is the father of her baby.
Andy not only performed his usual hosting duties of asking the crew questions about this season and beyond, but he also expressed his sympathy to Dani after she spoke about JL's lack of support, him seeming to not want "anything to do with it," and his mom's social media comments. He also offered words of encouragement when Dani got emotional speaking about her child as she prepared for her daughter's arrival at the time. "Listen, this girl is going to come into a world where she is very loved, and you're gonna be an incredible mom," Andy assured Dani. "You want her, you're waiting for her, and you're gonna be great."
Later on in Part 2, Andy had a separate conversation with just JL five days after the reunion taping since the deckhand was away on charter while the host spoke with the rest of the Parsifal III crew. While Andy gave JL a chance to discuss his side of the situation with Dani, in which he shared that he wanted to have a DNA test performed in order to confirm the paternity of the baby, the host also pointed out, "It seems like if you're hung up on a DNA test, and you understand that it's OK for you to pay for, I mean, it seems like maybe your mom could help you out and try to facilitate this test. It seems like a pretty simple equation."
Andy also gave JL an opportunity to respond to what Dani and some of his other crewmates said after playing footage from the reunion taping back for the deckhand. JL seemed upset after he requested to watch the footage a second time because he said he "was paying attention a little bit more to things that were said, the looks on people's faces, too."
However, Andy advised JL to focus on Dani's words, especially when she said that she wished "he was here to defend himself or to say what he thinks." "Well, I think the most important thing isn't the looks on other people's faces; I think the most important thing is what she said," Andy told JL. "And, listen, I've been doing this a long time, and I've talked to a lot of people in uncomfortable situations and at these reunions and stuff. I thought it was very notable that she said, 'I wish he was here. I didn't come here to attack him.' I think you should take that to heart because, especially if you're saying that pretty much everything she said was true, you know?"
Andy also encouraged JL to reach out to Dani. "It seems like now's the time for you to communicate and figure this thing out," he said. "You might regret it if you don't."
The episode ended with JL sharing some final words for Dani, including that his feelings for her this season were genuine, he wants to be there for her and the baby, and that he is "sorry that things happened the way that they did." "I think that's everything, what you just said, and what I really think you should do is remember everything you just said and write it all down and send it to Dani so you can resolve this," Andy told JL. "She needs to hear that from you, I think."
After the reunion aired, one viewer noted on Twitter that Andy seemed like something of a "mediator" for Dani and JL. "Found this reunion fascinating," Andy responded. "I hope they all figure this out!!"
