See Inside Steve Gold's Incredible SoHo Loft
"What I’ve created has exceeded my expectations,” the MDLNY agent said after buying and renovating his potential client's home.
When Steve Gold met with a potential client about selling a penthouse loft in 2019, he was immediately impressed with the home's "incredible bones and proportions," he recalled to Architectural Digest. So impressed, in fact, that as he left the property, the Million Dollar Listing New York agent already had a very special buyer in mind. “I ended up saying, ‘I’m happy to sell it for you, but I’ll also buy it from you.’”
Although Steve felt the 3,400-square-foot home needed some work before he could settle in with his girlfriend, Luiza Gawlowska (who was pregnant at the time with the couple's daughter, Rose), he knew there was something incredibly special about the apartment. "I saw the potential,” he explained.
With that, Steve and interior designer Samuel Amoia got to work on reimagining the three-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bathroom home. AD notes that in addition to transforming "the energy and flow" of the abode, some of the major changes include "HeartOak flooring by Dinesen, full-slab stone, and custom Venetian plasterwork by Benjamin Lai throughout."
However, it was important to Steve to keep certain original details. “We found beams [in the ceiling] that I left exposed over the main living space, which really open up the room," he said. "And the existing cast-iron beams and older wooden ship beams both add to the character.”
Now, after an intense renovation process, Steve is thrilled with the end result. As he told AD, “I have to say, when I come home at the end of every day, what I’ve created has exceeded my expectations.”
