Amusement Park Survival Kit: What to Pack For a Hassel-Free Day With the Kids
Normal0falsefalsefalseEN-USJAX-NONE
I recently went to Disneyland with my family, and it was nearly 100 percent absolutely perfect. Nearly. Because if I had thought ahead just a little bit better and brought along some key items the day would have gone along a lot smoother (more on that in the first item below).
Oftentimes when traveling with kids, you can become so preoccupied with getting all the logistics right that you overlook the basic necessities. So I put together a handy list of must haves for next time. Whether you are taking on Disney, Universal, Six Flags or any other amusement park during, having these essentials on hand will ensure your day at the park is a breeze.
DBigness Portable Phone Charger
Let’s start with a portable phone charger. You do NOT want to see your phone die just moments before meeting Cinderella after waiting in line for 30 minutes. Major mom fail. This one will give the kids a bit of a charge too.
Re-Kånken Water Resistant Backpack
Ultra lightweight, water-resistant and roomy enough for all your necessities. Includes a foam insert that can be removed and used as an on-the-go seat pad. Ahh…
Evian Mineral Water Spray Duo To Go
There are two ways to become a rock star: One is to learn three chords and score a gig in the Bowery. The other is to whip out a bottle of Evian mist when you’re in line for the teacup ride and give your wilting family a refreshing cool down. Boss!
Teva Universal Flatform Sandal
Leave it to Teva to create the perfect day-at-the-park sandal—waterproof, adjustable for the perfect fit and nice platform cushioning. Bonus: They’re back in style again.
Body Glide Foot Anti-Blister Balm
Get everyone’s feet and toes ready for a day-long outing with this amazing foot balm that really works!
Disney Princess Lanyard Card
Lanyards are totally a thing at theme parks. Kids love to sport them and use them to store their park passes along other small collectibles like flair pins. Get one in advance and avoid the in-park markup.
Disney Princess Deluxe Autograph Book and Photo Album
Also a thing? Getting an autograph from your favorite park character—a five-year-old’s version of living the dream. Pair with a set of scented flair pens.
Emu Joy On-the-Go Portable Skin Soother
Scrapes, mosquito bites, stings and rashes—this soothing ointment keep smiles from turning to full-on-meltdowns and will come in handy all summer long.
BlueAvocado Re-Zip Seal Reusable Storage Bag Kit
Amusement parks aren’t exactly known for their fresh food offerings. But you can pack your own and not lose your good mommy cred with these reusable bags. PVC-free, lead-free & BPA-free. Add in some wipes for sticky fingers.

Neutrogena Beach Defense Sunscreen Spray SPF 70
When it comes to sun protection on the go, it’s all about the spray. And this sunscreen comes with a top Consumer Reports rating.
Lilly Pulitzer Ameila Polarized Aviator Sunglasses
These colorful aviators by Lilly Pulitzer contain 100 percent UV protection and will keep your eyes covered all day. Don’t forget a set of Babiators for the kids.
Hydro Flask 24-Ounce
There will be no leakage with this bottle, and its TempShield insulation ensures that beverages stay cool (for up to 24 hours!). BPA and phthalate free, obvi.
MPOW Waterproof Phone Case
Because phones and water rides do not go together.
Color Splash Packable Visor
This breathable visor will protect your face and eyes, and it easily packs away without losing its shape.
Poncho Family Pack
Don’t let a little inclement weather slow you down—you paid a fortune to enter this damn park, after all. This pack contains four adult and four kids sizes.
Badger Sore Muscle Rub
And just in case that last roller coaster leaves you with a kink in your neck…
