Andy Cohen Claims James Corden’s Show Copied the Watch What Happens Live Set
The Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen host shared how he feels about the Late Late Show’s similar-looking set.
In a recent interview, Andy Cohen opened up about how Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen has influenced current late-night talk shows, and he couldn’t help but call out one example in particular.
“I think [WWHL] is a different kind of talk show… I think there’s been a traditional idea of what a late-night talk show is. I would argue that Watch What Happens Live has redefined what the late-night talk show is,” Andy told Bruce Bozzi on a recent episode of the Table for Two with Bruce Bozzi iHeartMedia podcast.
Bruce agreed, telling Andy, “We’ve seen a lot of things that originated on your show bleed into everyone else’s.” One example: “[WWHL had] the first bar on late night, [and then] James Corden got a bar [on the Late Late Show],” Andy noted.
“James Corden wound up kind of—” Andy continued, before Bruce finished, “Ripping off your set.”
“There you go,” Andy said.
“That used to be stuff that I was really hypersensitive about,” Andy admitted. Now, however, he feels a bit differently. “I’m so glad we’re still going that it’s like, ‘Great. Copy my set,’” he said. “Go with God.”
