As we know from previous years, Bethenny Frankel goes all out when it comes to Halloween at her house. So while it wouldn’t have been a surprise to see The Real Housewives of New York City alum’s shopping cart filled with spooky decor during an October 20 trip to HomeGoods, it turns out she was at the home furnishing store to prepare for an entirely different occasion.

“We just did a painfully early Christmas gifting,” Bethenny said in an Instagram Story video, noting that she spent $800 during her outing. “We start very early because we take Christmas very seriously.”

While explaining what inspired her to start her Christmas shopping months in advance of the holiday, Bethenny quipped that her assistant was “still recovering from last year’s Christmas gift situation in which she had to deal with and organize and help me with 250 gifts.”

During her trip to HomeGoods, Bethenny purchased gift bags, tissue paper, “gift elevation items,” and some new kitchen decor to put out later this year: A “‘Snoopy doghouse cookie jar,” because, she explained, “I obviously needed that.”

“Try not to judge me,” Bethenny said in an Instagram Story video after showing a closet in her home filled with gift bags. “It’s just that it really did almost kill us last year, because you get busy during the holidays and then you have 250 gifts to buy, to put together, and we had the day.”

“It matters,” she concluded. “So that’s why it was a little crazy.”
