Everything You Need to Know About Teresa Giudice's Old and New Houses
The RHONJ cast member recently moved out of her iconic mansion and into a very different new house.
Teresa Giudice once famously declared, “I don’t want to live in somebody else’s house. That’s gross.” Instead, The Real Housewives of New Jersey OG meticulously designed a jaw-dropping 10,000-square-foot New Jersey mansion, which she shared with husband Joe Giudice and their four daughters Gia, Gabriella, Milania, and Audriana.
Over the years, viewers have had a front row seat to many of the most special—and painful—memories created in that home, including Christmases, proms, deaths, and everything in between. It also served as the backdrop for many of the series’ most iconic moments. (Sprinkle cookies, anyone?)
Among the most poignant moments came when Teresa temporarily moved out of the home in 2015 to begin an 11-month prison sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Connecticut. The following year, Joe began his 41-month sentence for mail, wire, and bankruptcy fraud. He never returned to the home after he was deported to Italy.
Since then, Teresa and her daughters’ lives have changed a lot—and their evolving home has reflected that. After an extensive redecoration project, Teresa ultimately decided to put the house on the market and eventually sold it for $1.9 million.
Now, she’s living in a new pad with her new husband, Luis “Louie” Ruelas, their combined children and dogs, and a totally new décor vibe.
Read on to take a trip down memory lane through Teresa Giudice’s houses over the years.
Teresa Giudice's first house
When we first met Teresa and her family in Season 1 of RHONJ, she was putting the finishing touches on her now-iconic New Jersey mansion, which her bestie Dina Manzo described at the time as “freakin’ gorgeous.”
The luxurious home featured a warm color palette, giant gold wings on the entry door, lots of columns, and a double curved staircase in the foyer. “I designed it myself,” Teresa proudly declared in the video above, which shows a full look inside the glamorous abode the day after she moved in. The most exciting part of the tour, however, had to be the wine cellar where Teresa’s then-husband Joe made his own wine.
Teresa Giudice's house on the Jersey Shore
Many of the New Jersey Housewives own or rent a vacation home along the Jersey Shore, and in Season 4, we were introduced to the Giudice family’s getaway abode. In the video above, a kaftan-clad Teresa walks us through her sprawling home complete with a grand entrance, ample seating, and lots of windows.
“Joe pretty much redid the whole house,” Teresa notes in the clip. “This is where we hang out and just party.
Unfortunately, the Toms River pad was sold at a foreclosure auction in 2015 amid the couple’s legal troubles.
Teresa Giudice’s home makeover post-divorce
In 2020, Teresa gave her original home’s interior a bit of a facelift to reflect the many ways her life had changed since she first designed it. At the time, her interior designer, Jimmy DeLaurentis, recounted his conversations with the mom of four.
"She was like, 'My house needs a lot of work, it's dark, it's filled with old Italian stuff, Joe is gone,'" DeLaurentis told E!. "She was just like, 'I need to feel lighter in this house.' It's a huge house, everything was doom and gloom and dark, and she had memories of a lot of stuff, and she just wanted to brighten it up."
"She took me through the house room by room, and she said, 'You see this, this needs to go,' and it's a monster house," he explained. "She wanted a whole new feel. And I said the first thing you got to do is lighten up all these walls, and the windows had these big heavy drapes. She called a painter that day and the painters were there, and I walked the painters through the house that very same day."
"She has a new bed," he continued. "She went to one store, one shop and bought all of this furniture 18 or 19 years ago and she was like, 'I have got to get rid of that.' She is in a whole different place now than she was then."
Teresa Giudice's first house goes on the market
Amid their divorce in 2019, Teresa and Joe discussed the future of the home during The Real Housewives of New Jersey Special Event: Joe and Teresa Unlocked.
“I wanted to keep the girls there, 'cause I didn’t want them, you know, to go through another change. And I am glad I was able to," Teresa said at the time. "But it is a lot to upkeep.”
Later, Season 11 of The Real Housewives of New Jersey documented Teresa’s decision to put her beloved home on the market to start a new chapter for herself and her four daughters. Despite her understandably complicated feelings about saying goodbye to the house, Teresa revealed in one episode that she was ultimately "ready for a new beginning," adding, "I'm looking for a fresh start."
Teresa officially put the house on the market it 2020.
Teresa Giudice's new house, new love, new beginnings
Before their August 2022 wedding, Teresa and her new love, Louie, moved into a stunning new house with their combined children in 2021. We first caught a glimpse of the New Jersey abode—which has decidedly different décor than Teresa’s last home—on a November 2021 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, when Teresa appeared virtually from her spacious new kitchen.
Though Teresa, her daughters, and Louie continued to share glimpses of their new pad on social media, we finally got a full tour ahead of Season 13, which you can see by pressing play on the video above.
Also in Season 13, the happy couple feted their new space with a “love bubble” themed housewarming party that was just as over-the-top as you’d expect from the cookbook author.
