As Crystal Kung Minkoff advised Erika Girardi on what to wear to her Lunar New Year celebration on the October 6 episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, she explained, "Red's good luck." While Crystal herself opted for a "regal" gold dress for the evening, she designed every detail of the party with a stunning red color scheme.

"The Chinese New Year is the biggest holiday celebration for my culture. 2021 is the Year of the Ox, which represents stability," she shared in an interview. "I think a few people could use that in their life right now."

For the event at Shan Social House, Crystal's guests started with cocktails in the restaurant's garden area, which was decorated with string lights and stunning flowers. When it was time for dinner, the group went inside to a shimmering red table topped with red roses, red menus and place cards, and eye-catching gold plates. Dozens of paper lanterns hung from the ceiling, and candles all around the room added to the already dreamy setting.

"I really wanted to sort of transport the girls to Asia," Crystal explained. "Not only sort of see it, but feel it."

Throughout the dinner, guests enjoyed food including pork and shrimp shumai, vegetable potstickers, and whole-roasted Cantonese duck. Later, a separate dessert bar included coconut sorbet, Crème brûlée, tangerine granita, and candy boxes.

While Crystal had previously hosted lavish events for her castmates, this one was incredibly meaningful to her. "I love meeting new friends who are curious about my background and my ethnicity and showing them all my traditions," she said in an interview, and later added to Erika, "My culture, the way I eat, the way I celebrate is such an indication of who I am."

At the dinner, she declared, "My heart can't be more open than tonight when I share my culture and my family."
