Andy Cohen Sends Wendy Williams "Positive Energy" After Her Hospitalization
The WWHL host hopes "for a quick recovery" for Williams after her recent health issues.
In the wake of the news that talk show host Wendy Williams has been hospitalized from complications related to her Graves’ Disease, Andy Cohen took to Twitter to show his support for her. The Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen host tweeted: "Sending positive energy to [Wendy Williams] for a quick recovery. There are too many Hot Topics to be without WW on TV!"
In a statement to Page Six, a spokesperson for Williams and her family addressed the hospitalization and what it means for her talk show as she will need to take an "extended break" to get treatment. Distributor and producer Debmar-Mercury noted that repeats of The Wendy Williams Show will air the week of Jan. 21, with guest hosts filling in beginning the following week.
Prior to the hospitalization, Williams injured her shoulder in December; later she slurred her words on air, which she blamed on painkillers after apologizing. Since she has twice delayed her return as she was aiming to return to the air at “200 [percent]." Previously, she fainted on her show in 2017.
“As Wendy Williams Hunter previously shared, she fractured her shoulder and has been on the mend. Over the past few days, Wendy has experienced complications regarding her Graves’ Disease that will require treatment. Wendy will be under the strict supervision of her physicians, and as part of her care, there will be significant time spent in the hospital,” a statement from the Hunter family read. “Despite her strong desire to return, she is taking a necessary, extended break from her show to focus on her personal and physical well-being. Wendy thanks everyone in advance for their well-wishes and for respecting her and The Hunter Family’s privacy during this time.”
