Patricia Altschul Has a Marriage Proposal for Shep Rose

During Season 8 of Southern Charm, Patricia Altschul has been leaning on her son, Whitney Sudler-Smith, to help her out around her home after Michael Kelcourse left her employment in the wake of his health issues. But now, in a first look at the August 4 episode, we're meeting Patricia's new butler.

How to Watch

Watch Southern Charm on Bravo Thursday, December 5 at 9/8c and next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo App.

Patricia introduces Randy to Shep Rose, in the clip above, opening up more about welcoming her temporary butler into her home. And while she notes that she is happy to have Randy around, "Nobody will ever take Michael's place, but he's been good."

She does add, however, that having Randy around is "so much better than Whitney." To hear more about all things Randy, we suggest you check out the clip above for all the scoop.

In the Season 8 premiere of Southern Charm, Patricia spoke about what it was like to learn about Michael's medical condition (he suffered an acute spinal cord infarction, also known as a spinal cord stroke, in February 2021), noting that the news "kind of struck me in the heart."

“I’m still shocked by the whole thing because he had been with us for 18 years,” she said. “My longest marriage lasted 15 years, so Michael is the most stable relationship I’ve ever had.”

In fact, Michael recently reflected on his tenure working for Patricia in an Instagram post, sharing a photo of a gorgeous home where he once worked for the Southern Charm matriarch. “Mrs. Altschul’s home on Centre Island where I first started working for her,” he wrote, adding in the comments, “Mario Buatta introduced me to Mrs. Altschul and Whitney [on] Thanksgiving 2003 when I gave him a ride after Cynthia Phipps’ dinner and no taxi was available.”

He added about spending nearly two decades with Patricia: “I had a job I loved and a wonderful lady to work for. Her [son] kept us laughing. He has [an] amazing sense of humor.”

Following the spinal cord stroke, Michael, who is affectionately known as Michael the Butler by Southern Charm fans, now lives in Florida at an assisted care facility near his family.
