Whitney Sudler-Smith and Patricia Altschul Share an Update on Michael Kelcourse
The Southern Charm family offered an update on the man affectionately known as Michael the Butler.
Whitney Sudler-Smith recently visited Michael Kelcourse after he suffered from an acute spinal cord infarction, which is also known as a spinal cord stroke, earlier this year. Michael, who has been a fan favorite on Southern Charm for years, has been recovering at the Shepherd Spinal Center in Atlanta where Whitney visited him, as he and his mom, Patricia Altschul, shared on Instagram this week.
"Great visit with [Michael the Butler], a man of indomitable spirit!" Whitney shared alongside a photo of himself with Michael, Patricia's longtime right-hand man, who fans affectionately know as Michael the Butler.
Patricia shared the same photo on Instagram, adding in her caption, "[Whitney] had a great visit with [Michael the Butler] in Atlanta today. He’s got 'an indomitable spirit' and is working hard with his physical therapy. You can still send messages to Michael Kelcourse at @caringbridgeofficial."
In late February, Whitney confirmed the news of Michael's health in a statement to The Daily Dish. "I am sorry to inform you that Michael Kelcourse, affectionately known as 'Michael The Butler', recently suffered an acute spinal cord infarction which is often called a 'spinal cord stroke.' Although this tragedy has caused significant nerve damage and impairment, with the help of the outstanding physicians at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, we are hopeful Michael will soon recover," Whitney confirmed at the time. "Thank you for respecting Michael’s privacy during this challenging time.”
Patricia has also been caring for Michael's cat in the months since. She recently shared the sweetest photo of the feline with the caption, "Good night and God bless.... Michaels’s kitty asleep on my bed."
She previously opened up about taking care of Michael's cat earlier this year. "I’ve been taking care of Michael’s kitty until he is able to do so. She has settled right in being in the main house and pays no attention to the dogs," Patricia shared on Instagram. She also tweeted of Michael in late March before she deactivated her account, "Thank you for asking...of course I miss him as do the dogs and his cat."
