Madison LeCroy and Venita Aspen Have Some Surprising Feelings About Kathryn Dennis Today
The Southern Charm cast members addressed THAT surprise invite to their joint birthday party on WWHL.
With their birthdays so close together, Madison LeCroy and Venita Aspen decided to combine their celebrations on the July 14 episode of Southern Charm. However, Venita wasn’t exactly kept abreast of the invite list and was surprised to see Kathryn Dennis, with whom she has had a bit of drama in the past, among the guests at the garden party.
“I felt like she kind of left me out of an important equation,” Venita said of Madison’s not telling her she was inviting Kathryn during an exclusive interview with The Daily Dish earlier this week. “But I do what I do best. And I showed up, and I was a Southern lady, and I welcomed Kathryn and Olivia [Flowers] with open arms to the party. And, you know, we did our thing.”
During the same interview, Madison noted that Venita was invited to Kathryn’s “Great Katsby” birthday party earlier this season, “so it’s only fair.” And Venita agreed: “I mean, no, you’re right, you’re right. It is only fair. That’s right.”
Madison continued to defend her decision, saying she didn’t know the issues between Venita and Kathryn ran so deep. “You know, obviously my friendship is stronger with Venita than anyone else. So if that, you know, bothered her so bad…” Madison told The Daily Dish. “I don’t have any bad blood with Kathryn at the time, either. So with it being a joint party, I mean, we’re grown enough to where we can invite whoever. At this point, I didn’t know it was so strong of a problem.”
Venita acknowledged that Madison had asked if she wanted her to disinvite Kathryn and Olivia from the party. “I said, ‘No, it’s no big deal,’” Venita recalled. “Like, we’re here now, so we’re just gonna have a birthday party together with them.”
Still, Madison said the birthday party was “beautiful.”
“We got through it,” she shared. “I mean, I had a blast. I had a lot of champagne.”
Venita agreed that “it was fun,” adding, “I had a little too much champagne, but I think we had a great party [laughs].”
While discussing that invite during her and Venita’s appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on July 14 (clip above), Madison pointed out that someone else who isn’t the biggest fan of Kathryn was able to get through the party all right. “If Patricia [Altschul] can sit at that table across from Kathryn, Venita can too. It was a joint party,” Madison said. “And you know what, you did good. You faked that. You were like, ‘Hi, girl!’”
“You didn’t really give me a choice,” Venita said in response, laughing.
Venita also said on WWHL that she wasn’t “thrilled that people were celebrating [Madison’s] engagement the entire time.” In her defense, Madison said, “It’s not my fault. Blame it on the ring.”
Despite all the drama surrounding their birthday party, Madison and Venita shared how much they still love each other on WWHL. “But I will not throw another party with her again,” Madison said.
As for where they stand with Kathryn these days, Madison told The Daily Dish that she is “cordial” with her fellow Southern Charm-er. “We’re good,” she said.
Venita is also actually in a good place with Kathryn. “Kathryn and I are pretty cordial today. We text a lot about our dogs, which is kind of fun,” Venita shared. “We’re pretty cordial, which is nice.”
Madison and Venita’s joint birthday party got off to a dramatic start, and it has an even more chaotic ending. See what we mean in a first look at the upcoming July 21 episode of Southern Charm, below.
