See How Captain Jason and the Below Deck Down Under Crew Are Showing Their Support for Each Other
The Below Deck Down Under cast is rallying around one another following Episodes 6 and 7.
Below Deck Down Under stew Margot Sisson and several other crew members took to Instagram on August 8 to address the events of the show’s latest episodes. Read on to see what the cast members had to say.
Margot Sisson and Adam Kodra
In an Instagram Story, Margot thanked Adam Kodra, who she said became “such an important part” of her life while aboard Below Deck Down Under’s Northern Sun.
What’s more, following Luke Jones’ firing, “Adam immediately came up to me and said if he had known what was happening, he would [have] done anything and everything to protect me,” Margot wrote. “He said I was like a sister to him and it was so sweet and I truly adore him so much.”
Referencing Laura Bileskalne’s actions prior to her firing, Margot added, “I was completely oblivious to what was going on between him and Laura, and I wish I could go back and be there for him more.”
“Neither of us deserved this,” Margot concluded of Luke and Laura’s behavior. “I love you, Adam!”
Margot Sisson and Captain Jason Chambers
Margot penned a tribute to Below Deck Down Under’s Captain Jason Chambers. “I want to give a HUGE thank you to Jason too, for his immediate response to the situation, leaving no room for any BS,” she began. “There are unfortunately a lot of captains who would choose to sweep something like this under the rug, I am grateful Jason is not one of them.”
“Thank you for repeatedly making me feel safe and supported,” Margot added. “I wish every captain were just like you. Sending you so much love right now.”
Jason also took to Instagram, sharing a video in which he discussed Episodes 6 and 7. The caption read, in part, “I applaud the production team and crew, and I sincerely hope that all parties involved use this time to reflect and use this opportunity to not only change but help others. Everyone has the chance in life to grow, learn from experiences either good or bad, and become the best humans. Respect Boundaries.”
Margot Sisson and Aesha Scott
Sharing a photo of her and chief stew Aesha Scott, Margot wrote, “I’d like to start by saying a big thank you to [Aesha] and express the love I have for her. The way she recognised the vulnerability of the situation I was in and her courageous intervention on my behalf was both heroic and so admirable.”
“I thank the universe for her every day, as well as the producers who quickly stepped in,” Margot’s message continued. “Aesha, you have a heart of gold, I look up to you and I will forever be grateful.”
Margot shared a second photo of her and Aesha embraced in a hug, along with the caption, “Everybody needs an Aesha in their lives.”
Aesha, meanwhile, posted a snapshot of her and Margot to her own Instagram feed. Affectionally calling Margot her “little Cherub,” Aesha also wrote, “What a light of the season you were for me!!! Women should always support women and I will always support you.”
Margot Sisson and Tzarina Mace-Ralph
Margot then showed her “love” and “appreciation” for chef Tzarina Mace-Ralph for helping her when she “felt so low and vulnerable.”
Echoing the sentiment Tzarina shared on Below Deck Down Under, Margot wrote, “[I]t is true, ‘Women should be able to black out drunk if they want to. We should be able to stand in a room naked and not have anyone do anything to us.’ It was truly eye-opening for me, and I’m sure it hit home for countless women who have also felt shame and somehow to blame for their own experiences.”
“Thank you for holding me, supporting me, and feeding me flapjacks and chicken soup with so much love,” Margot’s message continued. “I am lucky to have you in my life and you have become such a role model to me. I love you so much.”
Tzarina shared an Instagram post of her own too. “Sending all the love and light to my dear friend, Margot. Your courage is truly inspiring during this journey and challenging time,” her caption began. “It is a stark reminder of the importance of respecting boundaries and treating each other with kindness and dignity. We must stand together and make it clear that such behavior you had to go through is never acceptable. Sexual misconduct is a serious issue, not just in yachting but in many industries. It is crucial that we continue to shine a light on this problem and work towards creating safer environments for everyone.”
The chef went on to remind Margot that she’s “strong, resilient, and deserving of respect.”
What’s more, Tzarina said Margot’s “bravery will inspire others to speak up and take action.”
Margot Sisson and Harry Van Vliet
Another Below Deck Down Under crew member who got a shout-out? Harry Van Vliet, who Margot thanked for “continuing to be perfect.”
“I love watching all of our interactions, you made me smile every single day and you are an incredible person in every way possible,” she wrote. “You deserve the world.”
Harry shared an equally sentimental message on Instagram paired with a photo of him and Margot. “Dearest Margot, what you went through should never have happened. I am so sorry that you had to go through something like that,” Harry wrote. “I know that since it happened you have been recovering and getting on and living your awesome life which is so great to see considering the situation. Keep pushing through and striving in life, good things are coming your way I know it! Love you always, Harry.”
Margot Sisson’s Message for Viewers and Sexual Assault Survivors
In another Instagram Story, Margot wrote, “I want to say THANK YOU for all the beautiful messages coming in from the viewers. Each message is truly brightening my day and warming my heart.”
“I promise you that I will read every single one of them, and I value each person who has taken the time to reach out,” she continued. “I am so grateful to be home with friends and family now and have so much love and support around me, but your messages mean the world to me too.”
A separate Instagram Story began, “To all the women who have been affected by sexual assault in any way, shape, or form, my heart breaks for you. Please know that you are not alone, and the blame does not belong on your shoulders.”
Margot then acknowledged the “deeply triggering” aspect of the situation, explaining that while the episodes may have been “incredibly difficult for many to watch,” she believes “it was vital to show because this issue is all too real and far too frequent.”
“Perpetrators often escape accountability, and this is not ok,” Margot added. “I was lucky to have Aesha and the producers intervene, but I’m all too aware that many women have not and will not be so fortunate and it makes me feel sick to my stomach.”
“If you’ve ever experienced something like this,” another Instagram Story began, “you should not face ridicule, shame, or have your experienced minimized. Had I woken up to a boat full of people who had the same feelings as Laura, I would have continued to think it was my fault, that I deserved it, and what happened was okay. There would have been no consequences, no accountability, and the same thing or worse could have happened again and again to someone else.”
“It breaks my heart to know that this has happened to so many of you reading this,” Margot continued. “Your emotions are valid, nobody is allowed to blame you, and you can’t blame yourself. Your body is your body, your space is your space, your bed is your bed, and nobody is allowed to enter that bubble without consent.”
Margot Sisson’s Update on Her Life Today
Discussing her life since production wrapped on Below Deck Down Under Season 2, Margot shared in another Instagram Story, “Lastly, I think it is so important for me to mention that I’ve done A LOT of work on myself since filming, and my relationship with alcohol is pretty much non-existent right now.”
“When I see the show now, it’s like I’m watching someone else, a complete stranger,” she added. “Hang in there with me for the rest of the season, and just know that I’ve grown so much since then and I’m so proud of who I am today.”
“If you’re dealing with issues related to sexual assault or alcohol, please remember that you are never alone,” Margot said in one of her messages. “[H]elp is out there and there is someone who will listen.”
