Shep Rose Responds to a New York Housewife's Crush on Him: "I Wonder What My Mom Would Say"
Plus, find out the shady comment one RHONY O.G. made to Ubah Hassan.
Start spreading the news, everyone. The women of The Real Housewives of New York City have arrived.
On the July 16 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the entire cast sat with Andy to discuss the highly anticipated RHONY Season 14 premiere. Brynn Whitfield, Sai de Silva, Ubah Hassan, Jenna Lyons, Erin Lichy, and Jessel Taank spilled some behind-the-scenes tea, with brand consultant and socialite Brynn even letting audiences in on who her Bravolebrity crush was.
Could this be a setup or a hookup?
Brynn Whitfield's Crush on Bravo Star Shep Rose
Taking questions from social media, Andy asked the flirty Midwesterner if any single Bravolebs caught her attention.

“Don’t — this is a setup,” Brynn smiled, questioning whether Andy would text her secret crush. “I have a little secret.”
She confessed Shep Rose from Southern Charm “is cute.”
Brynn asked the WWHL host what Shep was like in real life, to which Andy said, “He’s exactly as he appears.”
Brynn said this was “perfect.”
“It takes one commitment-phobe to know another commitment-phobe, right?” said Brynn. “I like Southern Charm. I’m from Indiana, so Midwest and the down south, we play dirty.”
Shep has reportedly been single since he and Southern Charm’s Taylor Ann Green parted ways. Both spent two years as an item, though Shep said he feared getting married because of a potential divorce.
“I come from a family where, literally, there’s zero divorce, so the bar is high,” Shep said on a 2022 episode of Southern Charm. “If you fail at marriage, you failed at something. That’s not something anybody wants to say they did.”
Taylor confirmed their split on the ensuing episode of WWHL.
As for Brynn, she recently told The Daily Dish at the RHONY premiere party that she was single (and ready to mingle, we hope).
“I am single. I feel so lame. I’m, like, ‘Should have got a boyfriend for this red carpet!’ I am single, though,” she said. “Still hanging out with, like, two exes.”
Shep Rose Responds to Brynn Whitfield's Crush
Shep soon caught wind of Brynn's crush, and responded in a flattered way.
After the official WWHL Instagram account posted a clip of Brynn explaining her crush on Shep, Shep had to leave a comment explaining his emotions.
"Oh well that’s certainly nice to hear. Thanks for thinking of me Brynn. I mean Andy could have been a little more enthusiastic about her brave (and accurate) proclamation. perhaps he knows too much. This poses a problem," he wrote.
Shep later elaborated more in a Page Six interview.
“When I saw that, I thought it was very flattering,” Shep said in the September 14, 2023 interview.
Alongside Southern Charm newcomer Rodrigo Reyes, Shep admitted that he and Brynn had some light back-and-forth on Instagram. Through private messaging, Shep thanked Brynn for her kind words, and they exchanged some info about where one another lived.
It ended with Shep writing: “I’ll let you know if I’m in town, otherwise I’ll see you at BravoCon.”
Shep admitted, however, that he was hesitant about dating another Bravolebrity, following his breakup with SC co-star Taylor Ann Green.
“But never say never,” Shep told Reyes and Page Six. “Should I go for it?”
Bringing his hands to his face, he added: “Oh, my god, I wonder what my mom would say if I married a Real Housewife?!”
Be careful, Shep, because, as pointed out in the RHONY Season 14 taglines, if you make Brynn mad, she may date your dad.
What Ramona Singer Told Ubah Hassan
Brynn isn’t the only single lady in the new RHONY lineup. While Jenna, RHONY’s first openly gay woman on the series, is keeping her relationship status on the D.L., Ubah is also without a romantic partner.
One former RHONY cast member, however, said Ubah might be forever single.
Ubah opened up when Andy asked which of the former New York Housewives was the first to reach out to the newcomers after the new cast lineup was announced.
(Some, including Jill Zarin and Dorinda Medley, had already offered up their well wishes in recent months).
Brynn, Erin, and Ubah said Jill contacted them, though Ubah talked about her interesting run-in with Ramona Singer.
“She’s very beautiful; like, drop-dead gorgeous," Ubah said. “She just asked, she said, ‘You’re so pretty; are you married?’ And I was like, ‘No.' “She goes, ‘Oh, honey. After this show, forget it.’”
Brynn explained that Ramona implied they had "no chance” at married life.
“We have no chance as singles. No one’s gonna want us,” Brynn explained. “There’s a curse, yes. There’s a curse.”
“We have to break it!” Ubah announced, met with a round of applause from the live audience.
“Breaking generational curses on RHONY,” Brynn said as she and Ubah high-fived.
