Padma Lakshmi Shares an Update on Her Dog Divina
The Top Chef host became a first-time pet owner after adopting a rescue dog last year.
After first announcing that she had adopted a chihuahua late last year, Padma Lakshmi is sharing more details about life with her newest family member. The Top Chef host recently offered an update on her adorable dog, Divina.
Padma opened up about what inspired her decision to get a pet for the first time while appearing on the late-night talk show, A Little Late with Lilly Singh. “Divina is a rescue. She's fully grown,” she said. “And I've never had a pet before. I don't know what I'm doing. But, you know, my kid's an only child, and I wanted to do something for her that would make her happy.”
So how has Divina adapted to her new household? Padma says the rescue dog led a “very hard life" before joining their family, but seems to be adjusting well. “She's so sweet. She does tricks,” she said, later adding, “We know her story [from] before she got to us.”
From the sounds of it, Padma and Divina have also formed a tight bond. “She is always coming up on my lap at the wrong time in Zoom meeting,” Padma joked.
In recent months, Padma has captured several heartwarming moments with her new pooch and her daughter, Krishna. “Little hands and little paws,” she captioned one photo of the duo.
