Monique Samuels' Pet Parrot Has Gone Missing: "I’m a Little Heartbroken" (UPDATED)
The RHOP cast member is asking for help locating T'Challa.
UPDATE (AUGUST 10, 12:07 p.m.): On Monday (August 10), Monique confirmed on social media that her parrot, T'Challa, was back home after going missing over the weekend. She confirmed his safe return on Instagram. And, as you might imagine, she was very happy: "My baby flew home to me!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank all of you for the positive energy and prayers!!!! He found his way home!" she wrote on Instagram.
The original story continues below.
Monique Samuels' African grey parrot T'Challa, who has been featured on Season 5 of The Real Housewives of Potomac, has gone missing. Monique shared the news on Instagram over the weekend, and has been keeping fans up to date on the search for her beloved pet.
As of press time, T'Challa was still missing, with Monqiue tweeting on Sunday (August 9) evening: "I still haven’t found my T’Challa. I’m a little heartbroken."
On Instagram and Instagram Stories on Sunday, she also noted that she had spent the day searching for her bird in her neighborhood and passing out flyers to try and track him down; she also noted that he is microchipped should he be located. "I have not found him yet. I don't want to cry. I'm trying to think positive thoughts. I know that he's OK," she said.
She also added that husband Chris Samuels has been watching their kids while she looks for the bird.
Monique thanked her fans for showing her support as the search continues for the bird, noting, "That's my baby and he brings me peace and joy."
Earlier in the day, she shared the upsetting news and put out her call for help locating him: "Please Help me find T’Challa. Anyone in the Potomac area please keep a look for my parrot. Please post anything that you think will help me find him. I’ve placed his cage out front of my home and his perch out back. I’ve been driving around for 3.5 hours looking for him and calling his name. I’m devastated and praying for his safe return. I’m offering a reward for anyone who can locate him."
She also posted several videos about it.
Monique previously opened up about adopting the parrot and revealed why she decided to get a bird over a different kind of creature. "I love animals and my hubby wouldn’t let me get a dog so I got a puppy with wings," she explained on Twitter earlier this season. "He’s the best pet I’ve ever had honestly. Never knew birds were cuddlers."
"Now that I have three kids, I'm constantly being pulled left and right, and I'm trying to figure out how to balance myself," Monique explained in an interview during the Season 5 premiere on August 2. "I have always been an animal lover, and I said, 'I need to get a bird.' He's like a stress reliever for me."
