How Josh Flagg’s Divorce (and New Relationship!) Play a Role on MDLLA Season 14
The Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles agent teased what’s to come in an exclusive interview with The Daily Dish.
Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles Season 14 will no doubt showcase jaw-dropping homes, high-stakes deals, and everything else that comes with the luxury real estate industry — but according to Josh Flagg, that’s not all. For the first time in the show’s history, it’s the agents’ lives that are front and center.
“Usually the show is very heavily real estate–focused, [but] this season it’s real estate and personal focused,” Flagg told The Daily Dish ahead of MDLLA’s premiere on Thursday, December 8.
Referencing himself and his castmates Josh Altman and Tracy Tutor, Flagg continued, “There’s only three characters this season, and the three characters are really close friends. So it’s like a little intimate family. And fans can expect to see the dynamics of our relationship. It’s just a much more personal show than it’s ever been before.”
As the Season 14 trailer revealed, this is due in large part to Flagg’s recent divorce. He and his ex-husband, Bobby Boyd, announced their split in March, with Flagg explaining at the time that the decision to go their separate ways “was not a rash or impulsive” one, nor was it based on “a lack of love,” but rather the notion that he and Bobby were simply “growing in different directions and wanting very different things” for themselves.
Flagg elaborates on what led to the divorce in a first-look preview of Thursday’s premiere, telling Altman that the breakup was initially meant to be temporary. “Bobby and I decided that we would do a three-month trial separation,” he says. “I checked into the Beverly Hills Hotel, I sat in the hotel suite for a week, and I realized I am so much happier now.”
Altman responds by showing his support and telling the MDLLA cameras he’s “here for him,” but this season’s trailer indicates that there may be trouble ahead for not just their friendship but also Flagg and Tracy’s. Referencing the contentious moment in the trailer that sees Flagg confronting the two for supposedly staying in touch with Bobby, Flagg told The Daily Dish that there were certainly “some unexpected surprises and curveballs thrown this season that I wasn’t expecting.”
He didn’t give too much away, though, adding that fans will have to wait to watch everything “unveil.”
One thing Flagg did reveal? He and his boyfriend, Andrew Beyer, recently moved in together. Andrew is set to appear on MDLLA Season 14 as well, and he can be seen telling Flagg in the trailer, “I feel like I’m on an endless sleepover with my best friend. I love you, angel.”
