Luann de Lesseps Reveals Where She Stands with Bethenny Frankel After Their Miami Drama
The Real Housewives of New York City cabaret singer has a surprising take on that outburst.
Bethenny Frankel directed one of her biggest outbursts on The Real Housewives of New York City ever toward Luann de Lesseps during the ladies' trip to Miami. By the end of the episode, it was unclear where their friendship would go from there.
However, Luann said during a recent interview with ET that things have "gotten much better" between her and Bethenny since then. "It's something that happened, you know, over six months ago so it's always hard to see that again because we've gotten to a different place," Luann explained. "It was tough. I felt really bad because I know there were a lot of things going on in there and it wasn't just about me. I think I handled it pretty well considering."
Luann said she actually took Bethenny's blow-up as a sign that she really cares for the RHONY cabaret singer. "It was a tough moment and I think, as we go back a long time, I think that friends do get angry at each other and they do yell at each other," she said. "If you don't care, you don't bother with people, right? So I thought it was a true show of her love for me."
Luann also shared how she was able to maintain such a calm demeanor during the dinner. "I didn't say very much because I felt like [it was best to] just let her vent," she said. "It was not time to, like, stand up and go after her. She had a full on breakdown."
But Luann was holding back some really hurt feelings in that moment. "I think for Bethenny to say that I dine out on my sobriety, that I use it as a crutch is really lame and one of the most hurtful things I've ever heard in my life," Luann said during The Real Housewives of New York City Season 11 After Show, above.
Luann also said during the After Show that she thinks a lot of different things had been bubbling up inside of Bethenny before it all boiled over at that dinner. "I think Bethenny's got a lot of issues and a lot of anger and a lot of stuff going on in there; it's not just about me," she shared. "There were a lot of things bottled up in that explosion."
