Lisa Vanderpump Reveals How She Met Ken Todd: "There Was an Instant Connection"

Lisa Vanderpump and Ken Todd will celebrate their 35th anniversary in August, and to hear her talk about it is to hear about two people deeply in love. On the latest episode of Vanderpump Rules, viewers saw Lisa sharing some of the history of their romance with Stassi Schroeder on her podcast, Straight Up with Stassi, and now the entire conversation is live and available to stream.

"We got engaged after six weeks and we were married within three months," Lisa reminded Stassi.

Lisa shared that she actually met Ken through her brother, who worked at a nightclub in London. The day they met, she dropped her brother off for work, went to dinner, and came back to pick him up, but a manager was missing so she found herself helping out at the club when Ken walked in the door. She was 21 and he was 37.

"It was the strangest thing," she recalled. "But he was wrong for me in every sense of the word. He was 16 years older than me. He was a playboy, running around town with his trousers 'round his ankles. And I was dating somebody else. I just looked at him and there was an instant connection."

"Just through eyes, without talking? That sh-- really happens?" Stassi asked, incredulous.

Ken wanted Lisa's number that night, but she was reluctant to give it to him.

"He said, 'Give me your number,' and then he said, 'You know what? I'm not going to get it because I think I'm going to fall in love with you.' That was the smoothest... "

Lisa then went to America, returned to England, and ran into Ken about six or eight weeks later.

"And we went on a date, and six weeks later we were engaged," she said.

"Are you Wiccan? Did you have a spell?" asked Stassi. Lisa laughed, but didn't say she wasn't a sorceress of some sort.

Lisa lived in an apartment she bought herself when she was 20 and Ken wanted her to move in with him right away, but she thought of the old axiom, "Why buy the cow when you get the milk for free?" She didn't live with him until they were married.

Despite their large age difference, Ken really won her over by looking at her as an equal.

"You know the greatest gift Ken Todd ever gave me? He was 16 years older than me and he met me halfway on everything. He never put me down, he never belittled me, he would take me to meetings and ask my opinion."

35 years later, they're still equal partners in life and love, and the thrill is still very much there. Although she's famously cheeky about their sex life on Vanderpump Rules, it sounds like they're still keeping it spicy.

"There's nothing I haven't tried," Lisa said, adding, "Well, there's a couple of things."

"Oh my gosh, you've done it up the butt?" Stassi blurted out. "I'm too scared to do that!"

"Oh no, I would never do that. That's not me and that's not my husband. Thank God!"

"Should I be offended that no one has ever asked me to do that?" Stassi asked. "It's because my butt is concave."

"Ken's a very sexy man," Lisa concluded. "Ken knows what he’s doing. Ken's got it going on and he’s a very virile man. Very. Like a little too much!"
