Adrienne Maloof Recalls Her "Legendary Cooking Moments" in Throwback Kitchen Post
The RHOBH alum shared the photo more than a decade after her iconic chicken-washing scene.
Adrienne Maloof isn’t afraid to laugh at herself.
This was demonstrated on Instagram this week, when The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum shared a photo of her shucking some corn in her old kitchen. Although she didn’t provide any details about the throwback picture, the mother of three used the post to recall her most memorable on-screen cooking moments.
Adrienne Maloof reminds fans of her iconic RHOBH cooking scene
“Throwback,” she captioned the August 15 Instagram, which included a crying-laughing emoji and a BravoTV tag. “Who else misses my ‘legendary’ cooking moments?”
The post has since received nearly 2,000 “likes” and dozens of comments, most of which mentioned Adrienne’s iconic chicken-washing scene. The moment went down in RHOBH Season 2 (2011) after Adrienne enlisted Lisa Vanderpump for an at-home cooking lesson.
Look back at Adrienne's cooking lesson with Lisa Vanderpump
“Lisa is always giving me a hard time about learning how to cook,” Adrienne said in Season 2, Episode 8. “The only way to shut her up is [to say], ‘OK, show me how to cook, Lisa.’”
The SUR owner was clearly confident in her teaching ability, as she had "sold thousands of chicken dishes in [her] restaurants.”
“I think I’m perfectly qualified to show Adrienne how to cook a chicken,” Lisa said in an interview. “I mean, it’s not rocket science.”
The lesson got off to a rocky start, as Adrienne rummaged through her kitchen trying to find a cutting board. After Adrienne located the item, Lisa instructed her then-castmate to stick her hand inside the chicken and remove the giblets.
Adrienne Maloof explains why she washed raw chicken with soap
“We’re gonna take [the chicken] and wash him first,” Lisa said as Adrienne followed her to the sink.
While the Vanderpump Rules boss simply rinsed her chicken under the faucet, Adrienne began pumping soap — yes, soap — on her raw poultry. Needless to say, Lisa was taken aback.
“OK, we don’t need any soap. Did you just put soap on it?” she asked Adrienne. “You didn’t. You put soap on him? On the chicken? You’re going to get sick putting soap on here!”
Adrienne quickly defended the move, saying she was being extra cautious after getting Salmonella poisoning.
“Let me tell you why, if you’ve ever been sick, if you’ve ever had salmonella poisoning, you’d do the same,” she explained. “Why would you not put soap on it? How else do you get a chicken clean?”
“Not like that,” Lisa responded. “Why didn’t you just put him in the dishwasher?”
