Kandi Burruss Dropped the Name of a Surprising Housewife Who Approached Her to Work on a Song
The RHOA and Kandi & The Gang cast member on why she's avoided the "drama" of making music with Real Housewives following "Don't Be Tardy."
Not only is Kandi Burruss one of the Real Housewives of Atlanta and is now also sharing her life on the new Bravo series Kandi & The Gang, which shows fans the inner workings of her Old Lady Gang restaurant, but she is, of course, a music icon. She's made history in the industry as a member of Xscape and a solo artist, as well as a prolific songwriter ("No Scrubs," "Bills, Bills, Bills," you get the picture). She is also the woman behind Kim Zolciak-Biermann's legendary track, "Tardy for the Party."
And when Kandi stopped by the Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen Clubhouse on Sunday (March 6), she was asked to open up about the other Housewives that have wanted to work with her on a musical collaboration "after the success" of her work with Kim.
The short answer is, duh, there have been a few, and Kandi spilling the tea is definitely worth the price of admission just to hear the name of one of the ladies. "Multiple Housewives," she revealed. "But one that you would probably be surprised would be [The Real Housewives of New York City alum] Bethenny [Frankel]. She reached out to me to work with her on a song. This was a long time ago. I can't even remember what she was trying to use it for."
Andy responded, "I love that. You didn't say yes to any of them. You were one and done with Kim Z." However, Kandi noted she did collaborate with a RHOA alum. "No! Actually, I did do something with Demetria," she said, referring to the 2015 track, "Unnecessary Trouble," which she recorded with Demetria McKinney, adding, "But everybody else, I was just like, 'I don't want the drama.'"
If you are on the lookout for some new tunes from Kandi, might we suggest the theme song she recorded for Kandi & The Gang? It bops. She spoke a bit about the tune on WWHL, noting that husband Todd Tucker and daughter Riley Burruss offered up "a little help" on creating the track.
Also, if you're searching for some more details from Kandi about her life as a busy entrepreneur and even more scoop on the Housewives, we suggest you check out the full WWHL clip, above.
Catch Kandi in Kandi & The Gang on Sundays at 9/8c. And if you want more RHOA, catch up on the Bravo app.
