Who Is Juan Dixon? Everything to Know About the RHOP Husband
The Real Housewives of Potomac basketball coach recently remarried his ex-wife and longtime love, Robyn.
Fans of The Real Housewives of Potomac know Juan Dixon as Robyn Dixon’s ex-husband whom she recently remarried, as seen in RHOP Season 7, Episode 17. But there’s a lot more to know about this RHOP husband.
His relationship with Robyn spans many years, dating back to high school. Together, they’ve been through a marriage, a divorce, the deaths of loved ones, financial ups and downs, and a second marriage. They also share two sons, Corey and Carter.
Professionally, Juan had a successful career as a college basketball player and was later drafted to the NBA. He later became a college basketball coach — and, of course, a Bravolebrity along with his wife.
Read on for everything you need to know about Robyn’s husband, Juan Dixon.
How did Juan Dixon meet Robyn Dixon?
Juan was born on Oct. 9, 1978 in Baltimore, Maryland and, as a teenager, he played high school basketball. He tragically lost both his parents, Juanita and Phil, when he was 17 years old and was then raised by his grandparents, Roberta and Warnick Graves.
During high school, he met Robyn, née Bragg, a senior at a different high school when he was a junior. Robyn recalled how their initial meeting happened at a basketball game between rival schools to the Washingtonian in 2003.

"It got to the point where he just kept staring at me and not saying anything," she recalled to the publication. "I waited for him outside the locker room one day. He turned around and said, 'Hey, don't I know you?' It was so cheesy." Robyn and Juan started dating in 1996.
Juan Dixon's College Basketball Career
Juan and Robyn both attended the University of Maryland, where Juan was on the basketball team and played guard. During his time with the Terrapins, he became Maryland men’s basketball’s all-time leading scorer (2,269 points) and all-time men’s leader in three-pointers made and attempted, according to the university. He also became the only player in NCAA history to accumulate 2,000 points, 300 steals, and 200 three-point field goals, according to Bleacher Report. Juan also led Maryland to the 2002 National Championship. Upon completion of his college career, his number three jersey was retired and it now hangs in the school's Xfinity Center.
Juan Dixon's NBA Career
In 2002, Juan was drafted as a first-round pick in the NBA Draft (17th overall) by the Washington Wizards. He spent the first three years of his NBA career with the Wizards but, in 2005, signed as a free agent with the Portland Trail Blazers. In 2007, he was traded to Toronto Raptors and then, in 2008, he was traded to the Detroit Pistons. His final NBA game was on April 15, 2009. In September 2009, he signed a contract with the Atlanta Hawks but was released the same year.
Juan Dixon's Career as a College Basketball Coach
After finishing his career as a professional basketball player, Juan began coaching college basketball and held positions with his alma mater and the University of the District of Columbia. He was hired as the men’s head coach at Coppin State University in Baltimore in 2017.
Robyn gushed about Juan's professional accomplishment in an April 2017 Instagram post.
“Congrats to Juan on being named the new Head Men's Basketball Coach at Coppin State University!!!” she wrote at the time. “His story and journey is an inspiration to everyone who knows their purpose and passion but have found that the road to success is not easily given to you. Juan never gave up on his dreams, even after some very difficult challenges and a lot of rejection.”
On the Season 8 premiere of RHOP, viewers learned Juan had lost his job at Coppin State University.
“I felt like I love my job, I was passionate about my job, but I guess we didn’t win enough basketball games,” Juan told Robyn.
In Episode 2, Juan revealed he wasn't rushing the process of finding a new coaching position, though he was looking.
“All I do is love my guys, I love my guys hard,” he told Robyn in the episode. “And they love me back… I know things are going to work out because I have everybody’s best interest.”
When did Juan and Robyn Dixon first get married?
Juan proposed to Robyn in October 2004 by writing in the sands of Miami Beach: “RB – Will you marry me?”
They tied the knot in July of 2005, in a 400-person wedding at the Galleria at Lafayette Centre in Washington, according to the Baltimore Sun.
Who are Juan and Robyn Dixon's kids?
The couple welcomed their first child, Corey, in 2008 followed by their second son, Carter, in 2010, according to Us Weekly.
When did Juan and Robyn Dixon divorce?
Robyn and Juan’s first marriage unfortunately came to an end. Their divorce was finalized in 2012.
They have spoken about their first marriage and Robyn's filing for divorce throughout RHOP, noting that Juan's infidelity led to the decision.
When did Robyn and Juan Dixon get back together?
Despite their divorce, the couple remained on good terms, and they continued to co-parent and eventually moved back in together — which is how fans met the couple in Season 1 of RHOP.
“Around that time, it was almost like maybe light bulbs go off and you kind of realize that certain things you need to change. It kind of happened, we realized there was a much bigger picture out there for our family and us,” Robyn explained to OK! Magazine in 2016 of their nontraditional living arrangement. “The best way at that time to live life was to congregate together and be supportive of each other."
"We are each other’s best friend and supporter — and the best way to get through some the things we were going through was together," she added.
Letting your life play out on television invites lots of opinions, and Juan hasn’t always loved the attention of being on RHOP.
"He's not comfortable with it," Robyn revealed to The Daily Dish Podcast in 2017. "It's very interesting. It's two ways: One, he understands that by sharing our story and being very honest and open with it, we are in turn maybe helping people who may be in a similar situation."
"He understands that there is something powerful in what we're sharing," she added. "He's just not comfortable with it personally because it is kind of awkward to just put all your business out there to be scrutinized and interpreted for the world."
When did Juan and Robyn Dixon get engaged?
Despite their differences, RHOP cast members and viewers alike could see there was still chemistry between the exes. They eventually rekindled their romance and, in December 2019, Juan proposed to Robyn for a second time at a holiday party. (The moment aired on RHOP Season 5.)
"Shocked and excited is an understatement to describe my reaction to Juan’s proposal! I could barely breathe!" Robyn told The Daily Dish via email at the time. "We had definitely discussed the topic and agreed that marriage was the next step for us, but I was not expecting it to happen so soon!"
"Juan gave the sweetest speech and set the whole room into an uproar when he got down on one knee!" she added. "It was truly a special night and is definitely much sweeter the second time around. Oh, and he knows me well and got my ring just right!"
Juan picked a 5-carat emerald cut pink morganite engagement ring surrounded by a double halo of 1.2 carats of diamonds and set in 18-karat white gold.
Juan and Robyn’s second engagement was notably longer than their first, and fans and cast mates wondered if they’d ever walk down the aisle.
When did Juan and Robyn Dixon remarry?
In August 2022, the couple were married in an intimate ceremony in Edgemere, Maryland, witnessed only by their sons and Robyn’s parents. (That sweet moment aired in the Season 7 finale.) The event was originally supposed to take place in secret in Jamaica, but then the couple had a change of heart.
“We had all our stuff — the boys’ suits, the rings, everything,” Robyn said on the show. “We had it all in Jamaica, and we woke up that morning and we felt kind of like, ‘This doesn’t feel right.’”
She continued: “For our boys, I hope that this is a memory they have forever, and they realize how important family is.”
In the end, the couple made the best decision for their family. “Our second wedding, although small in size and minimalistic in style, was simply perfect and magical," Robyn shared with BravoTV.com after the wedding. "The day focused on our incredible (and at times rocky) journey and love for one another and our family."
She added: "Every little detail was perfect and felt true to ourselves and our relationship. And of course, it was so special to have my parents — our biggest supporters — in attendance.”
Juan and Robyn Dixon's Latest Relationship Issues
Shortly before their second wedding aired on Bravo, though, Robyn said in a Patreon episode of her and Gizelle Bryant’s podcast, Reasonably Shady, that Juan had communicated with a woman he met on Instagram during the COVID-19 pandemic. While Robyn said that Juan did not have a physical relationship with the woman, the alleged woman released a photo of Juan’s name on a hotel receipt.
Though Robyn knew about the situation before filming commenced on RHOP Season 7, she did not talk about it on the show at the time.
“I believe him,” Robyn shared on a Feb. 5, 2023 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen of Juan’s claims that he simply paid for the woman's room after she lost her wallet and nothing physical went down between them.
As for why she never discussed the issue on RHOP in Season 7: “It wasn’t relevant to where we were in that present time.”
The pair has, however, begun to address the rumors in Season 8.
In the season premiere, fresh off of a family vacation in the Bahamas, Robyn told Juan it was "back to real life," which she called "a bitch."
"Like, all the noise that's been going on," she continued. "The whole girl with the hotel receipt..."
