Heather Gay is opening up about her health journey after losing 25 pounds.
"I've been shamed for just about everything and anything," The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City cast member, who lost weight after using Ozempic, the FDA-approved Type 2 diabetes medication, told E! News in a recent interview. "I got shamed for being overweight and I got shamed for being on medication. So, you can't win."
She added, "I feel the same. I feel like I liked myself then, I like myself now. It's just Ozempic became available and it worked for me."
Heather Gay comments on her "glow-up" on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City
On the premiere of RHOSLC Season 5, Heather showed up to Lisa Barlow’s Besos party wearing a strapless red latex dress covered in hearts from Cultnaked ($580) and a white fur jacket, pairing her look with pink shades and a small pink handbag.
As Heather showed off her skintight style to the RHOSLC ladies and other party-goers, they asked her about her new appearance. Heather responded, “Ozempic, baby!”
Then, in a confessional interview, she added, “It’s been a long, overdue glow-up. Thank god for modern medicine, that’s all I can say.”
Heather Gay explains why she felt "pressure" to lose weight
In March, Heather also spoke with ABC News about her weight loss and the detrimental comments around it.
Noting that she felt "pressure" to lose weight, she added that she was disappointed by the reaction she received from others once she did.
"I was being valued by my castmates, by the public, in a way that I had never been valued before," she shared. "And that felt, to me, sad."
The Bad Mormon author shared the same sentiments with PEOPLE magazine in a November 2023 interview, saying it was "discouraging" how she was treated after losing weight.
“You lose five pounds, people are nicer to you,” she said. “I don’t know why. It’s just the way the world works, and that makes me sad for women. But I’m happy that I’m down five.”
