What Advice Would Connie Britton's Friday Night Lights Character Offer Her Dirty John Character?
Do we think Tami Taylor would tell Debra Newell, "Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose"?
With the official premiere of Dirty John just days away (this Sunday on Bravo! But you can check out the debut episode here early), the show's leading lady, Connie Britton, is opening up a bit more about her role as the OC-based interior designer Debra Newell, who fell in love with a cunning and charming con man, John Meehan (Eric Bana). The story is based on the real-life toxic love affair (as well as The Los Angeles Times articles and hit podcast of the same name from reporter Christopher Goffard) — and is a far cry from another one of her small-screen romances: that (fictional) one between Tami Taylor and Coach Taylor on Friday Night Lights.
When Britton recently attended the Vulture Festival L.A. last weekend, she offered up the advice Mrs. Coach would have shared with Debra. “That just made me feel really schizophrenic,” Britton said, before revealing the wisdom in a Texas accent. (Spoiler alert, it's not, "Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose.")
Instead, she noted during the Q&A, that advice would be: “Girlfriend, you deserve better!”
You can watch the first episode of Dirty John here. And make sure to tune in when Dirty John officially premieres on November 25 at 10/9c.
