This Is What the Real-Life Terra Newell from Dirty John Looks Like Today
The subject of Dirty John appeared as the guest bartender on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.
Viewers saw the dramatic conclusion to Dirty John when the season finale aired Sunday, January 13. The shocking ending was particularly unexpected because it involved Debra Newell's (Connie Britton) youngest daughter, Terra Newell (Julia Garner), in a big way.
Of course, Dirty John is based on the true story of Debra Newell's romance-gone-wrong with John Meehan, a man she met online, and how it impacted her entire family. But if you're curious what the real-life Terra is like, we've got good news for you: We got to meet the real Terra when she served as the guest bartender on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen Wednesday night. See a photo of what Terra looks like today, below.
Terra was all smiles behind the bar during WWHL's January 16 episode as part of its string of shows filmed from Los Angeles, and during the episode, she even spoke a little bit about her part in the true story of Dirty John.
These days, Terra still lives in Orange County, where the events of Dirty John also took place, according to her Twitter bio. If you take a look at her social media, you'll see that she still loves the great outdoors, dogs, travel, and, yes, zombies.
The real-life Terra was also instrumental in helping the Dirty John cast and creative team bring her traumatic encounter with John to the small screen. "The most important thing in the fight was seeing it through Terra's eyes," executive producer Jeffrey Reiner shared inDirty John After the Episode, which you can check out, above. "So, I actually met with Terra for an hour and recorded her telling me what she smelled, what she saw, what she felt, what her heart was feeling like, what her body was feeling like, and she was unbelievably giving in the moment. She gave us a lot of imagery, so when you look at the sequence it's really kind of told from her point of view."
Debra also appeared as the guest bartender in the January 7 episode of WWHL, and she opened up about how many people have now heard and connected to her story through the Dirty John podcast and TV series. "I thought it would be a small interview on the sixth page of the L.A. Times and it became this," she shared.
Debra also revealed what her life has been like since Dirty John, as well as her thoughts on Eric Bana portraying her ex on TV. Check it all out, below.
