João Franco Speaks Out About His Beef with Hannah Ferrier: "My Opinion of Her Won't Change"
The Below Deck Mediterranean deckhand explains his seemingly never-ending conflict with the chief stew.
Hannah Ferrier and João Franco may be famous foes this season of Below Deck Mediterranean, but the deckhand actually didn't anticipate having a beef with the chief stew this season. "I respected Hannah straight from the start," João told The Daily Dish in New York City on Tuesday. "When I decided to do the show, I didn't watch a single episode before because I wanted to start everyone on a clean slate."
João said that he and Hannah "got along for the first two or three days." But as we saw earlier this season of Below Deck Med, things quickly went south between the crew members. "I think she's very powerful. And again, I respect her for it. But I feel that it was either her way or no way. And with that in mind and where I feel I've come from, I felt that I could be honest and open in saying what I feel," João explained. "We clashed."
The deckhand shared a similar take on their conflict on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Tuesday. And no, he isn't butting heads with Hannah because he secretly likes her or anything like that. "Feelings, maybe, but positive feelings, not so much," João said when one fan asked if he doesn't get along with the chief stew because he has feelings for her. "We're both hard-headed, we're both hot-headed in some sort of way. Seeing the show of how it's been going, I've had to learn a lot. I think both of us needed to learn a lot. I think it depends on who we are as people to use it or to let it go. We just clash. We're just completely the same, and we're completely different as well."
And that clashing just hasn't seemed to stop this season. "I never want to say anything bad about her to anyone else. Obviously, we all have our own opinions. I noticed throughout the show that she has an opinion to say about everyone to everyone. I've never been that way; I've always been as real as I possibly can. I feel like although my actions towards her or reactions even towards certain situations with added alcohol fuel, they weren't the best. And for that, I [am regretful]," João told The Daily Dish. "But my opinion of her won't change. I do believe that she needs to accept a lot of hidden and deep issues that she may have. We all need to learn something from what we go through, and we choose to take it or we choose to leave it. I've chosen to take responsibility for my actions, and I feel that she really needs to sometimes."
