Andy Cohen Opens Up on the "Annoying" Health Issue That Affects His Job
The WWHL host touched on the matter after a fan questioned if he was doing "ok."
Andy Cohen insists his nagging cough is no cause for alarm.
The single dad addressed the topic via Instagram last week, after a fan expressed concern about his physical health. The individual pointed out that Andy tends to cough a lot while hosting Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen — so much so that they couldn’t help but wonder, “Is everything ok?”
Andy Cohen reassures fans his health is A-OK
“Everything is fine and I appreciate you asking,” Andy said during the brief Q&A. “I do have some kind of annoying hereditary hack. I sometimes sneeze or cough on the show and it feels so weird to see on TV. Like do [other] hosts do it or am I just a complete mess. Don’t answer.”
Although Andy didn’t share any more details about his “hereditary” condition, he's been fairly open about his past respiratory issues, which were exacerbated by his asthma.
Andy apologizes to fans for his hoarse voice: "Hope it wasn't too painful"
Andy apologized to fans earlier this month for hosting WWHL with a strained voice. The Missouri native acknowledged he sounded pretty hoarse throughout the September 12 episode, which featured The Real Housewives of Orange County’s Katie Ginella and Alexis Bellino.
“Sorry about my voice tonight folks,” he wrote on X (f.k.a. Twitter). “There’s a first time for everything I guess. Hope it wasn’t too painful to listen to.”
One fan told Andy that he sounded a lot like Harvey Fierstein, the actor/playwright who’s known for his distinct raspy voice.
“I said that earlier lol,” Andy replied.
Andy tries to stay "healthy and positive" while navigating fatherhood
Elsewhere in the Q&A, Andy was asked to reveal “the hardest thing about being an older dad.” The talk show host — who has a 5-year-old son, Ben, and a 2-year-old daughter, Lucy — responded with a shirtless poolside photo in which he was holding his little girl with one arm.
“Yes this is a thirst trap,” Andy confessed. “Anyway, being an older dad is amazing because I feel calmer and more settled into myself and my life.”
While he’s clearly enjoying parenthood, Andy admitted he struggled with the uncertainty of the future.
“I worry about how it will be in 25 years,” he continued, “but I try to stay healthy and positive.”
