Madison LeCroy Explains Why She Unexpectedly Had To Move Out of Her Charleston Home
After quickly having to relocate, the Southern Charm-er shares exclusive details about life in her new abode.
While giving BravoTV.com a tour of her former Charleston home last year, Madison LeCroy raved about the kitchen and the backyard "oasis" while also noting her plans to replace the couch in her cozy living room. Little did the Southern Charm cast member know, in just a matter of months, she would unexpectedly be moving out of the charming abode.
"My old house actually [belonged to] a really good friend of mine who was traveling and doing this and that. I was trying to search for a house downtown and he said, 'Well I’m going to put my house up for rent. I would love you to stay there,'" Madison told Bravo Insider exclusively. "When the pandemic happened, he’s like, 'I’m gonna have to sell the house for financial purposes.'"
While Madison "totally understood" and "knew that was gonna be the end goal," the fashion enthusiast wasn't interested in buying the home herself for a notable reason. "It wasn’t the house for me, as far as to purchase, because there was absolutely no closet space," she explained. "Even though I love the house so much."
Madison was prepared to move out of the home once it was purchased by a new owner, but she didn't anticipate just how quickly she would have to say goodbye. She recalled: "The house ended up selling in two days, virtually. The woman didn’t even walk inside of the house before the house was sold. So then I was like, 'What am I gonna do?'"
Moving out of the home (get a full tour in the video below) was bittersweet. "It was the first house I had after my divorce," Madison said. "I took such good care of it because it [belonged to] a friend of mine and I enjoyed going and cutting the grass and doing the yard and things like that."
Luckily, finding a great new place to live proved to be easier than Madison expected. "I had a friend who lived on the third floor of where I live now and they said that this apartment just became available...I immediately said, 'I’ll take it' as soon as I walked in."
The new home has an "open floor plan, meaning the kitchen and the living room space [is] all one large room," Madison described. "My kitchen is little [with] a mini fridge." While she initially thought the size of the kitchen was "perfect" because she typically doesn't cook much, she has ironically spent the last several months whipping up meals with her 8-year-old son Hudson as they spend more time at home: "Now here I am cooking."
As Madison and Hudson got settled in the home, which is "on the other side of town" from her former house, they had some familiar faces to welcome them to the new neighborhood. "My business partner lives in the carriage house of the house that I’m in now," Madison explained. "I’m where Patricia [Altschul] lives...in the 29401."
Still, she sees her time there being relatively short-term. "I don’t think that I will be here that long just because I haven’t lived in an apartment in over two years and having people around me is — you know, a dog is jumping off of a bed upstairs and I can hear everything," she explained. "I need a yard, so I’m on the hunt. I’m hunting for a lot of things [and] a house is one of them. But right now this house is perfect, it does the job."
When thinking about making a more permanent move in the future, Madison won't settle for anything less than her dream home in the right location. "I just don’t want to move out of downtown," she said. "That’s kind of been the struggle. My parents want me to build a house on Daniel Island [but] I don’t know if I’m ready quite yet. I love the downtown scene. I’m very picky when it comes to something like that... I want it to be just right."
