Craig Conover Has an Entire Room Dedicated to Sewing — And We Have a Full Tour
The Southern Charm seamster lets us into his new business headquarters.
When Craig Conover launched his new "sewing lifestyle brand" Sewing Down South on April Fools' Day, some people thought it was a joke, but the Southern Charm pal has started a serious business that honors the love of his craft as well as his affection for his favorite places: Charleston and the Bahamas. Now, he's taking viewers inside his SDS headquarters, where all of the stitching magic happens!
In his Charleston home, Craig has actually dedicated an entire room to his sewing. "A lot of my sewing has been for gifts for friends or family or charities, kind of making a lot of my scraps into blankets for the homeless shelters," he explains in the video above. "But now, something's in the works, I think!"
Scroll down to get a full tour of where Craig's pillow-making magic happens, and watch the video above to hear him talk about his art.
Doesn't this just look like the coziest place to sew ever?
“At first I got a lot of heat for sewing, but then, people started messaging me and thanking me for sticking to my guns and doing something that I enjoyed," Craig said in a release when Sewing Down South launched last month. "It was at that moment that I realized, maybe I could help all the others out there that enjoy sewing, or doing anything 'uncool' who do it because they love it. I want to build a platform and a cool brand for us. Sewing isn’t just something for grandmothers — I mean, they’re great at it! But sewing is a craft, and designing pillows is a form of art and personal expression — at least for me it is."
Sewing Down South isn't Craig's only threaded venture at the moment — don't miss his pillowcase collaboration with Charleston's grande dame Patricia Altschul, too!
