Steve Gold Just Announced a Major New Venture in the Hospitality Space
The Million Dollar Listing New York agent is creating an incredible "world-class destination."
Steve Gold is bringing his unique eye for luxury properties to the hospitality space. The Million Dollar Listing New York agent has teamed up with interior designer Samuel Amoia to create The Aurum, a 36-room hotel and wellness destination scheduled to open in New York's Catskills region in fall 2021.
"The Aurum is perfectly positioned as a quick retreat for New Yorkers, and will fill a void in the
region for a luxury hotel experience," Steve said in a statement. "What we have envisioned for the project is something beyond what most hotels offer to travelers. We aim to create a world-class destination and community to attract global patrons.”
According to a press release, the design of The Aurum will emphasize local craftsmanship (with the majority of furnishings and décor being sourced from local makers, artisans, and antique dealers from the region) as well as pay homage to ancient Roman culture.
In addition to the main hotel, lodging options will also include 12 stand-alone bungalows with private outdoor garden areas and views of the Catskill mountains.
The Aurum Thermae, a "Roman hammam and spa," is the "focal point of the property and will offer a bathing experience previously unseen in the United States," reads the press release. "The developers were exhausted by dated spa concepts and the continuous push of the wellness industry for future trends and treatments. Instead, they decided to look back to the beginning of the concept of wellness, delivering guests to conjure the experience of ancient Rome."
The Aurum will also have a farm-to-table eatery with a "Sicilian flare" as well as a limited number of private residences available for purchase.
