Last year, Heather Bilyeu Altman had "a very random spur-of-the-moment thought": She wanted to create a winter wonderland at her and Josh Altman's Beverly Hills home. "I was like, 'Oh, that'd be fun to turn our backyard into a snow day,'" she told Bravo Insider in October. "And then I just went on my phone and Googled, and I was like, 'Oh sh-t. I can do that.'"

After seeing her kids (and Bobby Boyd) excitedly build snowmen, have a snowball fight, and even sled, it was a no-brainer for Heather to fill the backyard with snow again this year. "I just booked my annual Altman snow day," she said. "I'm very excited for sledding. This year, I am doing a two-lane sledding area — one for the kids that's a little shorter, and then a taller one for the adults— expanding the little snow area, [and] getting more trees to go in the backyard. I'm so excited."

As she transforms the inside of the home for the holidays, Heather is inspired by the decor from her childhood. "When I was growing up, my mom had multiple Christmas trees in our house, and each one had a different theme," she recalled. In addition to a "cutesy one that [had] all of the Christmas decorations that the kids made, or that had been passed down from generations," there was also a "really cute log cabin tree" adorned with bears, canoes, moose, plaid bows, and ribbons. In their formal living room, a "very over-the-top" tree was decorated by a professional.

Because she feels "trees just bring everything to life," Heather has now brought the same tradition into her own home. "I used to do real trees, but now I've decided to go ahead and do a couple of faux ones, and I do the flocked ones," she said. "We are Jewish, but I have to have my tree." As evidenced by their 2020 tree adorned with blue, silver, and white ornaments for Hanukkah, Heather explained, "I gave up the green, red, and gold for blue and silver."

Josh and Heather's kids, Lexi and Ace, each have their own tree in their bedrooms and can decorate them however they like. "Lexi has a hot pink little tree and she likes all pink ornaments on hers," Heather shared. "I just got Ace's tree this year, so we'll see what he decides to do with his."

In addition to plenty of holiday trees, the family also typically puts up "garlands and a couple of stockings." Although they add "Christmas lights that are warm yellow" in different parts of the home for the holidays, their larger backyard trees are aglow with them all year round. As Heather perfectly explained, "It's a vibe."

When the Hanukkah and Christmas decor comes down, Heather will quickly be hard at work transforming their home for the next occasion. "I'm starting a nice large collection of holiday decorations from Halloween all the way to Valentine's Day for the kids," she said. "It's fun...What's the point of the holidays if you're not gonna embrace it and enjoy it?"
