Scheana Shay Explains Why She “Swore Off Tea Parties” with Her Castmates: “F--k That”
“Anytime I hear the words ‘tea party,’ count me out,” the Vanderpump Rules cast member declared.
Scheana Shay is typically happy to spill the tea with her Vanderpump Rules castmates, but sipping tea with them is a different story.
On the March 29 episode of Vanderpump Rules, Ariana Madix told Scheana that Lisa Vanderpump planned to host a tea party for the ladies of the group, and Scheana quickly made it clear that she had no interest in attending. “F--k that,” she said with a laugh. “I swore off tea parties last year.”
As viewers may remember, during Season 9 of the show, Scheana experienced not one but two dramatic tea party showdowns with her castmates. In Season 9, Episode 5, Scheana and Lala Kent had a heated discussion that left Scheana in tears, and in Season 9, Episode 10, Scheana and Charli Burnett got into an intense argument. “I didn’t know I was showing up to a ‘Let’s bash Scheana tea party,’” Scheana said in an interview at the time. “The last tea party I went to, I got s--t at, and it’s making me really not like tea.” After the latter event, Ariana joked, “Scheana should not be invited to any more tea parties.”
However, all that changed on the March 29 episode, when Ariana encouraged Scheana to attend Lisa’s gathering at Villa Rosa. “I don’t think it will be like that,” Ariana said, referencing Scheana’s past tumultuous experiences. “I just think [Lisa] wants to have a little ladies’ tea.” Still, Ariana joked, “Wear flats if you have to run,” to which Scheana sternly replied, “No one’s making me run.”
Little did Scheana know, Ariana and her closest friends had a major surprise in store. Although Scheana was initially apprehensive about attending the event, declaring in an interview, “Anytime I hear the words ‘tea party,’ count me out,” when she arrived, she realized it was actually a celebration in her honor.
Lisa’s “tea party” was a surprise bridal shower for Scheana ahead of her wedding, and of course, it was complete with extravagant florals, delicious food, and gorgeous drinks. Despite her strong feelings about tea parties, Scheana couldn’t have been happier with the way the day unfolded. “Thank you, seriously, so much for doing this,” Scheana said to Lisa. “This is so special.”
