So, What's in Tom Colicchio's Fridge? The Answer May Surprise You...
Bravo's Top Chef judge Tom Colicchio is just like us — with a few notable exceptions.
Tom Colicchio may be an acclaimed restaurateur, but his refrigerator at home is not all that different from yours.
The Bravo's Top Chef host and judge let his friend Hugh Acheson, an acclaimed chef who is also a former judge of the competition, let him scour through his fridge for the first episode of his new food podcast “Hugh Acheson Stirs The Pot." While in Tom's "submarine kitchen," Hugh discovered some patterns that might sound all too familiar.
"I will proudly announce to America that Tom's fridge is much like everyone else in the world, where it's condiment rich, some leftovers in the back."
Hugh found a "vessel" of Tom's homemade hot sauce, made of unknown peppers that he grew that they both agreed make the sauce "hot as hell." He also found some lamb from Fleishers Craft Butchery in Brooklyn ("one of the great artisanal butchers here," Tom recommended), cooked chickpeas, "mystery vinaigrette" and lots of fresh vegetables.
"My wife jokes around that I have the soul of a Depression Era housewife, because I can repurpose food," Tom told Hugh, as they pulled out different items to make a quick fire snack. "Leftovers are great!"
