Padma Lakshmi Reveals Her Home Has the “Ultimate Luxury”: Details
The Bravo’s Top Chef host has a unique feature in her home to solve getting “bored in the bathroom.”
Padma Lakshmi spends a lot of time on the road. For Season 20 of Bravo’s Top Chef, she lived in London and Paris. Even when the Top Chef cameras aren’t rolling, Padma’s work as a humanitarian and foodie takes her to several other corners of the globe — and she always comes back with delicious tales to tell. But when she’s at home, the cookbook and children’s book author has ”the ultimate luxury.”
“I have a bathtub in my bedroom,” Padma recently told Allure. “I want to stay in the bath, but I get bored in the bathroom. To me, that’s the ultimate luxury.” And speaking of indulgences, Padma’s bath sounds seriously decadent.
She told the beauty magazine that she often thickens her bathwater by adding milk or lassi to it. Padma also whips up bath oils and salts by hand. She infuses her homemade bath products with different scents, which she changes seasonally. On any given day, she might opt to soak in a geranium, neroli, black pepper–scented tub.
Though Padma didn’t specify which of her homes she was referring to when she sat down with Allure, she has previously opened up about the bathtub in her Hamptons home.
When the foodie appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen in 2020, Andy couldn’t help but remark on her interesting backdrop. (You can check it out yourself in the clip above.)
“Padma is in the Hamptons, where she has a bathtub in her room,” Andy remarked. “Of course she has a bathtub in her room, and it looks great. You decorated it for us.” Indeed, the tub was spiffed up for its TV appearance. Padma had placed a vase of white flowers on a plank of wood that rested on top of the luxe fixture.
Back in 2019, Padma shared a cheeky snap from her tub, where she was eating one of New York’s most famous foods in honor of National Pizza Day. (It’s apparently February 9, in case you want to start planning a sudsy pizza party for next year.) The photos show a takeout box balanced on her tub, and Padma can be seen holding a glass of wine and digging into slices of pepperoni and cheese pizza.
Later that year, Padma shared a look at herself soaking in a copper bathtub, which appeared to be in an actual bathroom. In addition to gold tub fixtures, the bathroom had geometric black-and-white floor tiles, a fuzzy white rug, a luxe suede-and-brass ottoman, and some greenery. Padma captioned the image, “When you’ve been on the road for six months straight and you finally get a minute (1) to yourself.” She added the hashtags “self care,” “treat yourself,” and “deep sigh.”
