Padma Lakshmi Shares Her Daughter Krishna's Major Milestone in the Kitchen
"When I asked her how she knew how to do it, she said, ‘Mom, I’ve been watching you for years!’” the Bravo's Top Chef host recalled.
While Padma Lakshmi's daughter, Krishna, has grown up watching her mom cook, the 10-year-old is ready to start taking some advanced meals into her own hands.
“The other day she FaceTimed me to ask, ‘Mom, how hot does oil have to be to fry chicken?’ I was like, ‘What? That’s too dangerous!’ But she was adamant about doing it, so I walked her through the steps," the Bravo's Top Chef host shared with Parents. "She had prepared the egg wash, the breadcrumbs, and the flour, and had the paper towels and tongs all ready. She had even salted the breading."
The milestone was made even sweeter when Krishna took a moment to give her mom some credit, as Padma recalled, "When I asked her how she knew how to do it, she said, ‘Mom, I’ve been watching you for years!’”
While Padma helped guide her daughter through the process of frying chicken, she was incredibly surprised when Krishna recently presented her with a special homemade meal. “The other day I wasn’t feeling well,” she said. “And all by herself, Krishna made a dish of couscous, vegetables, and Sriracha butter that was exactly what I wanted to eat.”
The mother-daughter duo has spent plenty of time in recent months cooking incredible meals together, including a chicken Tagine recipe they shared with BravoTV.com in April. While speaking to Parents, Padma also detailed the back-pocket meals they've been cooking as of late. “I always have dal and rice in the house. We make it two or three times a week," she said. "Another easy quick thing is a scrambled egg wrapped in a tortilla with raw cut vegetables. And she loves egg salad.”
