Kelsey Barnard Clark Reveals the Key to a Successful Super Bowl Party Spread
The Bravo's Top Chef winner shared recipes and general tips for a winning Super Bowl Sunday feast.
We've seen what Melissa Gorga, Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave, and other Bravolebrities eat on game day. And now, we know how a Bravo's Top Chef winner does Super Bowl Sunday. Would it spoil things if we reveal right now that there's lots of beer involved?
Kelsey Barnard Clark recently shared some words of wisdom on Super Bowl snacking with BravoTV.com. The Alabama restaurateur summed up the key to a successful game-day spread, which she said should offer "easy to eat, full of variety, fun dishes that keep you coming back for more."
For some sample snack suggestions, Kelsey recommends things like beer cheese sliders (get her recipe here) and braised chili (recipe here.) You might notice that both of those dishes contain beer because, as the chef explained, "It’s a fun ingredient with food and in food. Beer adds a rich, caramel, toasty flavor to almost any dish and is the secret ingredient in almost all of my sauces and stews."
The Top Chef champ also had some tips for hosting. "If you’re the host, remember to keep your dishes low maintenance so you’re able to enjoy yourself as well. Every great party starts with a happy host," she shared. To take some of the edge off, Kelsey recommends preparing everything in advance.
"The key to a good party is making everything ahead," she said. "Prep the chili the day before and have your toppings ready to go in display bowls to pull out when the party starts ... Have the burgers pre-pattied and don’t be scared to enlist some help from a guest — everybody loves drinking beer by the grill."
Her final tip? "Enjoy yourself. Leave yourself enough time to prop your feet up and enjoy an ice cold, delicious Yuengling before the guests arrive."
