Gizelle Bryant's Hairstylist Shares the Process Behind Her Glam Hairstyles
Hairstylist Kalixto Blount reveals how The Real Housewives of Potomac mom's best hair looks come together.
When your bestie is also your hairstylist, good times and fabulous hairdos are guaranteed. Case in point: Gizelle Bryant and her hairstylist/BFF Kalxito Blount.
Blount has been styling Gizelle's mane for around 20 years. (You've probably seen him pop up on The Real Housewives of Potomac several times.) Their relationship has had a unique dynamic from the very beginning.
"Jamal [Bryant] introduced me to Gizelle, and I styled her hair. She wasn’t that satisfied with it," Blount told BravoTV.com. The hair guru wasn't scared off. "So I called her and she was like, 'Well, I like it, but next time let’s do this.' So after that we just hit it off."
Since then, the pair have been creating magical hair moments together — with Gizelle acting as creative director. "Basically, Gizelle is the boss," he explained. "I just follow her direction. She has her own vision and she allows me to, you know, sprinkle a little bit of my creativity. But it’s basically her vision."
While Gizelle ideates the looks, Blount takes them to the next level with his own tricks. When it comes to creating stunning, long-lasting hairstyles on Gizelle like her glamorous 50th birthday 'do or her Season 4 reunion look, Kalixto says the key is proper "haircare first."
"If your hair is healthy, you can do whatever you want," he shared. "If it’s healthy, your hairstyle will definitely last because with split ends, your hairdo's not gonna last."
