Leah McSweeney Shares the One Thing In Her Closet "Every New Yorker Should Have"
The RHONY newcomer opens her closet, and says she's "probably the only Housewife" that wears these shoes.
Leah McSweeney recently did a deep-clean of her closet, and now, it’s only filled with things she absolutely loves. The Real Housewives of New York City newcomer gave BravoTV.com an exclusive look at her wardrobe, which you can check out in the video above.
“It’s not a big walk-in closet with a rainbow assortment of Birkin bags,” Leah explained before opening the doors. “But, there is some cool stuff in here.”
After reading a book about decluttering, Leah estimates that she donated (or threw away) nearly 20 garbage bags filled with all kinds of things that she barely used.
“So this is the stuff I wear and love,” she said of her closet. Of course, there is one significant exception still hanging among her tried-and-true pieces, and it has a super cool origin story.
“This, I don’t actually wear, but it’s sentimental. This is the one thing I couldn’t get rid of,” Leah said, grabbing a shiny purple number. “This is my eighth grade dance dress that I bought at Pat Field’s when Pat Field’s was on Eighth Street, and I had amazing drag queens pick it out. My mom is like, she’s cool. I have a cool mom.”
As for the things in Leah’s daily rotation, her go-to outfit is jeans and a bodysuit.
“That’s kind of my thing,” she explained. However, the new ‘Wife also loves a “good maxi dress.”
Leah, who founded her streetwear brand, Married to the Mob, in 2004, says that her job is, surprisingly, the reason she’s not obsessed with hoarding tons of new clothing all of the time.
“I’ve worked in fashion my whole adult life, so I don’t get that excited over clothing,” she said. “I’m into it, but because I have to deal with it all day every day for work, it’s not something I think about. I have a very specific style, but I’m not like, the clothes girl, you know?”
When it comes to personal style, Leah’s also more likely to lean toward sneakers than stilettos. (Although she did mention that she loves a great pair of heels, too.) Her collection includes Jordans, Off Whites, and a pair of Married to the Mob Reeboks that she recently designed.
There’s also one thing in Leah’s closet that she considers an essential: a pair of pink Timberland boots.
“Of course, I have, like every New Yorker should have, except I’m probably the only Housewife that wears Timbs, but I need my Timbs!”
